I just saw eleven men jogging down the field as the opposing ball carrier waltzed his way to the end zone. For whatever reason, this team has quit. There was no excuse for that lack of hustle. If you're going to get beat down the field, make it an honest effort and give credit to the other team if they outrun you.

All of the other teams that I have seen coming off the bye week came out smoking and kicked some tail.

Amazing that the team is THIS flat given the magnitude of the game.

The only thing left is to see if the Eagles can score more this weekend than Wisconsin did.

Not a good night is an understatement.

A pathetic performance by the Redskins so far.

I hate to say it but the only way to stop this bleeding is to put a bounty on Vick. Late hit out of bounds or an intentional helmet-to-helmet may be the ONLY thing that will keep them from putting up 60. Was never a fan of naming Jim Haslett as DC, was even less of a fan of installing the 3-4 without 3-4 personnel and I'm hating it even more now.
Wade Phillips as DC is looking like less of a joke now than it did earlier in the week.

As for Kyle Shanahan, shame on him. After getting down, his play-calling looks like WE have the 35 point lead. Desparately trying not to call for heads or say anything overly stupid right now, even for me, but it's very hard. :(

I'm tired of hearing about talent. **** talent - we need some damn heart. I get so tired of being emotionally invested in guys who play like they don't give a rat's ass.

I agree about playing with a lot of heart. Anthony Armstrong has it and he may not have the talent of top receivers in the league, but he gets the job done. Case and point just a minute ago.

It's a travesty that the Eagles haven't been called for holding once. I hate Sunday and Monday Night games. Referees seem to have their flags glued to their ballsacks.

I disagree. The Redskins are getting outplayed in every phase of the game. I haven't seen any holding by the other team. Their oline is getting the job done.

Co-sign.

Santana Moss half assing it again and Cooley's training for his new role as the Invisible Man.

Every time this team gets put in the national spotlight, they crap the bed...massively.

It's getting to the point that I seriously question why I even bother to watch the games.

First, I hereby nominate Burgundy Burner for the understatement of the year.

Second, while heart is nice, that simply won't cut it with a mismatch in talent this large. The fact is, it's simply going to take time for us to get more talent and depth to be real contenders. With some good personnel moves we can be competitive in another year, but we're simply going to have to be patient for a good while for a team that can really dominate anyone.

I guess you missed the first play of the game then. Blatent holding on the left arm, grabbing the jersey outside the pads. Would have been called in ANY game not nationally televised. I went back and watched the Umpires eyes when they showed him. The guy is watching Vick quite often instead of the line. As entertaining as he's been, that's still a no-no. Also saw two chop-blocks that were missed although that's pretty common. My point is, there are ALWAYS less penalties called on Sunday Night and Monday Night. That's why I hate playing in them. When the Skins play a physical team, especially a division foe, on Sunday or Monday Night, they are usually outmatched. It didn't use to be that way. :(

Not much to add here. I saw this as one of the possibilities of the evening. I had hoped for another outcome, but, as has happened all too often in recent years the bad scenario is the one that became reality.

The Redskins' seat-of-the-pants style of play has caught up with them. They appear to have turned a corner. Unfortunately it appears to be the wrong one, again.

Oh well. There's always next week. Or season. Or whatever.

I'm having a beer and going to bed.

Are we the only team that is incapable of effectively game-planning? Everyone else seems to do it when they play us. We've effectively been carved up by the Rams, Lions, Colts, and Eagles. I can only imagine what will happen when we play the Giants.

It is what it is and this team faces a three or four year building project. I don't want to hear about one supposed missed holding call. I don't want to hear about the challenge that was bogus. I don't want to hear these excuses. 59 points is 59 points. The other team is good, but not that good. The Redskins are not good. Time to recognize it and build from there.

Again, it is what it is and now we can say it is time to blow it up - keep a few players that can be a foundation and build this team the right way. We have taken a good first step - a GM and respected coach. It will take time and we will need to be patient.

BB, you are TOTALLY taking that out of context. My point was, the Skins haven't been physical enough in a LONG time. When playing on a Sunday or Monday Night game against a physical team, especially a division foe, they are already in a hole because the opposing team knows they can get away with a lot more than normal. Every team in the NFL knows it. The physical, mauling Offensive Line almost always has an advantage. It's a travesty because it often gives one team an unfair advantage. The team with the advantage hasn't been the Skins in a very long time. What kills the Skins is, when the other team gets away with it early, like on the first play, things tend to snowball. Case in point is the games we played against the Giants during Prime Time the past couple of years. Same type of result against a physical O-Line. A 3-4 Defense without 3-4 personnel will NEVER match up in a case like that. The Philthians had the advantage and they sure as hell used it.

I agree with your other points. The team faces a nasty rebuilding project because we keep giving up picks instead of gathering them like the Pats or last year's Eagles. This team isn't as bad as this game indicated but it's been exposed and the remainder of the season will be a struggle.

Very sobering and I didn't even drink.......DAMMIT!

I fully understood it. My original thoughts centered on laziness and lack of hustle. Boone put it in his own words - a lack of heart. You chose to put in the aformentioned physical toughness (extreme).

We need this team to be what all three of us have described. It's all the same, but we chose to put it in different terms. But still, there are no excuses for it.

Yeah, this rebuilding project is going to take some time. So be it.
