Newbie here after the loss of ES

Hey all, another ES transplant here. Been lurking a couple days, just taking it all in. My handle on ES was long n left. Been on some iteration of Redskins message board since the 90’s. Was “S Man” back in the day on the precursor to ES…can’t recall the board’s name way back then, but then, I’m old.

I am far from a serial poster, but will interject when I have something amazing to add.🙂 I do recognize many names from the past, and look forward to reconnecting, and getting my daily dose of all things Skins.

Cheers all!

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I'm going to miss ES. Also possibly because I stuck to Stadium and only did Tailgate for Nationals talk, but I never thought the mods were bad. I did not have or see negative experiences yet perhaps I was in my own little ES bubble.

Anyways, I don't know if I'll be as active here as I was there, but I'll stop by for sure. R/Commanders on reddit as a lot of problems, feels like any reasonably written post or reply gets drowned out by incorrect statements or memes. But sometimes that's the nature of sports subreddits. Somehow r/nationals is better though.

P.S. I think it's time to update the Avatars. You can select Dan Snyder as an avatar but not Josh Harris? Boo that!

Yeah, we really need to update the current player avatars. I'll do some of that over the next few weeks. Thanks Miles Monroe for adding some Harris, Peters, and Magic avatar options. They are available in the 'Current Redskins' section.

Btw, if you go 'Premium Membership' you can upload any avatar of your choosing along with lots of other bells and whistles...

Yeah man. ES was definitely special for me. I lost my damn dog about the same time ES went down. Brutal week.

Hello boys, I'm baaaaack!

Chris Thompson, no?
Ah yes you solved my mystery - thanks! it was bugging me as I am usually an ace with uni numbers. Hackers - my credit card number is... one skin great after another.

CT does seem an odd choice with so many greats to potentially grace the cover. Ill reference this cheat sheet next time.

Not an unpopular opinion with me. I still miss ES. It was a daily habit and the site (and other posters) was like an old pair of jeans or like a morning cup of coffee... comfortable and part of my routine. After close to 20 years I knew the different areas of the site, I knew the threads I liked to read and post in. If news broke it's the first place I would go to read, post and just share in the news with fellow members. There were a lot of intelligent posters there whom I had a lot of respect for and valued their points of view. Im going to miss those "brothers/sisters" for sure. I'll also miss the history - long running threads, funny threads and sayings like "paloffs now"... I could go on.

I realize that BGO is a different forum with members that don't care about ES or what happened to it. I really appreciate how welcoming you all have been to the ES Refugees. Eventually BGO will take the place of ES for us and be that old pair of jeans we have to visit to get our Redskins/Commanders fix.

I'm at peace even if ES doesn't come back because folks that made it the community it was I'm either still able to reach or showing up here.

Reddit pointed me here. Some folks are probably still floating around in X.

I do believe the Tailgate is what did ES in...during 2020 the thread about the riots got shutdown and replaced, we were warned about 3 letter agencies watching us, mods begging to keep the site up.

If this is a indeed football site we should try to keep history from repeating itself. I'm not saying never talk politics, I'm saying we should be more careful what we say, privately run website or not. In ES the Tailgate was such noticeably heavier in traffic then the stadium, it wasn't really a football site anymore.

Even if ES comes back, I think I'll stick around here. I don't like being an ass to people, but the incessant ban-threatening got really old!

But sad to say goodbye after ~18 years over there!
Surprisingly, it was less hard thn I thought. Almost no cold sweats or fever. I did need a few ice baths.

We have been here since 2009 guys and we have a culture here that is very well established. We don’t allow political discussions of any kind. We do have the 5 O’Clock forum and other forums like the Gastropub forum for non-football topics.
