I do believe the Tailgate is what did ES in...during 2020 the thread about the riots got shutdown and replaced, we were warned about 3 letter agencies watching us, mods begging to keep the site up.

If this is a indeed football site we should try to keep history from repeating itself. I'm not saying never talk politics, I'm saying we should be more careful what we say, privately run website or not. In ES the Tailgate was such noticeably heavier in traffic then the stadium, it wasn't really a football site anymore.

Crazy in like my first 16 years or so I spend every day in the Tailgate. The politics drove me to the Stadium the last 4ish years and completely kept out of the Tailgate ever since. I was very sad ES left and Happy I at least started an ES 14 man Fantasy Football league. But im already loving BGO so much more. Glad to see you and so many others here.

One of the issues with ES is that having mega-threads to cut down on traffic was a very 2010s move post-merger. It ignores that there is going to be a lot of clutter if you want people to stay up to date. I wanted to see threads with the news that, say, Trent Williams had been traded. Not have to dig through and locate or run search filters. Having 500 page mega-threads actually kills your forum if that's almost all you have. It may be easier on mods but people stop tuning in to find out things.

That said, I did one blog entry for BGO and I think that's it. Small kids keep me busy but at least I started watching again somewhat.
 
We encourage thread-starting here. People should not be afraid to post or that the mob will shout at them if they post something redundant. There have already been a couple threads I thought personally weren’t necessary but it takes awhile to become familiar with how a new site is organized, and after all the whole point is to converse. We can move posts and threads and merge them but we’ll only do it if we think it’s warranted which will be rare.

I was Burgundy Burner over at ES. I am now Burgundy Burner over here. A lot of thought went into my decision.
