Newbie here after the loss of ES

I think folks can share in this thread if they want to. Most of our members prior to the past couple of days have been gone from ES for a decade plus. Despite the fact that half the old ES staff moved to BGO in 2009, most of the folks finding us won't recognize our ES names or even know who we are :)
 
Another transfer here. I have to say not having the fellowship of the community to chat with during the game on Sunday was rather depressing. Hopefully more of the "talkers" from ES make their way over here so we can have some good conversation during the games going forward

Welcome to the site! We already have great gameday conversations - we've been at this since 2009. We have chat software built into our site and a group is chatting in real time every game day (vs. people posting in our game day thread non-stop). Check it out this Sunday.

Glad you found us. Let us know if you need help or have any questions as you get used to the layout and features. There is a 'BGO User Guide' stickied in the Son of Washington forum that is probably worth peeking at.

Burgold you were a legend early on at ES. I often wondered what happened to you. Took me over 20 years to find out.

I was banned for following the rules. Remember how they always said, "Don't try to work around the profanity filter?" Well, I quoted Barr when he called a certain thing "bullshit." Because I quoted Barr and put the direct quote in quotes in the Tailgate thread about the election, one of the mods decided that was worth a ban unless I apologized and admitted fault. I had no problem apologizing when I committed a wrong or I hurt someone's feelings, but, for whatever reason, after being a good citizen for so long this ban really hit me wrong. I kinda do wish I would have had the opportunity to say goodbye to some dear friends I made over the twenty years I posted on ES, but I was not allowed on the board unless I got on my knees and grovelled for foregiveness which I was unwilling to do.

Same for me. There was an interaction with Jumbo in a thread about a possible name change after the first Harris, Magic, etc presser. The discussion was very, very active and he threatened action against anyone who persisted. (Keep in mind I was an active poster since very close to the start of the forum. Years before Jumbo became, well, drunk with power Jumbo. Never, ever received as much as soft warning during all that time.)

Anyway…here’s how it went:

Me- How to ruin a party with one post
Him- If you have something to say just say it
Me- Pretty sure I just did

Result? Because of my long tenure I was banned until I confessed the error of my ways and knelt down to kiss the ring.

Like that was going to happen. 🤣
 
Another life raft with an ES user has arrived. Sad to lose 10 years of witty comments and jokes, but also happy to lose 10 years of RG3/Cousins debate history.

It's going to take some getting used to not having thousands of posts in my history talking about disappointments.

No idea if Extremskins is finally done or not. But all of you are welcome here - this is the original ES reincarnated. We know, because we helped build the original one :)
