Let's Make a Deal: The Trade Thread

I’d love both guys back
Eh. I’ll always love Noah for the Hail Mary, but let’s face it he’s an injury prone journeyman. Both of those guys had some nice plays this year, but they also had some hideous drops. They’re JAGs. I get loyalty and continuity, but I want to aim higher.

I agree Dyami could be that WR2 field stretcher if necessary. However, we easily can do better. Credit where credit is due, but I feel like his nice stretch at the end of the year had a lot to do with Jayden making a mediocre receiver look better than he is.

If you are banking on a better season for next year, I’d bank on Slayton but I don’t know about having 3 28-30 year old receivers in our top 3

I think Noah is a fine #4 and he isn’t going to be particularly expensive. He’s probably looking at something like a 1 year $3m deal

Slaton would be a great fit. It’s fine for a couple of years, and we can afford to do it. If all goes well, then by the time they start to fall off we will have a couple of young drafted players that they can pass the torch to.

Elijah Moore. That’s who we need to pick up.

He’s a guy I liked coming out, so I have an affinity for him when I see the name…but truly, I lost track of him after the Jets traded him to Cleveland (where players generally go to die) so I have no real idea of his NFL skillset anymore, just a memory of him as a prospect I liked

I can't shake the notion we will be bringing in Christian Kirk or Cooper Kupp. In case we do, here you go. Sure young WRs can contribute much sooner than in the past, but still feel like AP is going to target another vet vs drafting a clipboard candidate. We already have Luke on simmer.

Winning comes at a cost. A shittier draft position. Vets to the rescue.

This guy was brought up once before. Very good all around young TE who might be had at a deal:

Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vincent Bonsignore reports the Raiders are “trying to trade” TE Michael Mayer.

On Friday we noted that the Raiders had held discussions with interested teams, but the idea that the Raiders are trying to trade Mayer adds a layer of urgency to this. Mayer missed a big chunk of this past season for “personal” reasons and that will likely factor into his market value. He fell from a 27/304/2 receiving line in 2023 to a 21/156/0 slash in 2024 as Brock Bowers took over in Las Vegas. New regimes often sell low on players from the past era, so perhaps a team will be able to buy low on Mayer.

With Deebo in fold, I doubt it with those two. We will need an outside guy now. Keim threw Slayton out there this morning and he checks a lot of boxes

Wonder what the personal reasons were. Given his lack of speed and wiggle, I don’t think he’ll ever be a TE1 but could be a TE2 and on a rookie deal for the next couple years. He can block and be more of a pass catching threat than Bates who the best guys are anticipating gets paid

Agreed although if you make the offense more run oriented or if your OT's are young, still learning and not great "yet", he would be a smart starter. He is a really good blocker and all around TE.

You could have him, a guy that's more a YAC guy and Sinnott who can be a chess piece.

I did a quick search and was unable to find a reason for his personal matter. There were as you'd expect suggestions that if be him attempting to pull a Davante Adams ploy to force a trade. This due to the Raiders selecting Bowers the year after they drafted him. Another said he may have been depressed due to this move. If either were true, no one would really want him. Both were just speculation of fans.

I think you're spot on. People assumed he'd be a good field stretcher because of his 40 time. He's OK at it, but we have enough experience over the last few years to demonstrate that he's hardly a game changer in that role. Doesn't mean I'm not happy to have him at the bottom of our roster, but I think there are upgrades available in FA that I'd like to see them target.

I'm hoping they move on from Dyami. I mean, Noah Brown hadn't even unpacked all of his belongings and outperformed him in what was Dyami's best season. he's just not very productive and I think if he were ever going to be, we would know it by now.

But what do I know, lol...
For a stretch the field guy the truth is he rarely delivered downfield plays. No his strength appeared to be RAC, he was good at that, but the guy we just got is probably the best in the league at the only thing Dyami did well here.

I wonder if it means they did express some interest in Jon Allen, but they couldn't figure out his value relative to Deebo. Peters ought to get Lynch drunk and then sign off on a trade for a 2026 2nd rounder. But seriously, I guess this comes down to what the 49ers think internally about themselves. Do they believe their window has closed or is rapidly closing.

They really wanna clear salary so bad, what would they give us if we eat most of it? Would have to be good.

I agree with being able to stretch the field more, giving Deebo, Ertz, Eckler additional space underneath due to defensive concerns about covering deep, with Terry out there doing his thing. would be great. However giving JD the time to sit back and truly step into the longer throws is my concern. Keeping JD from getting rocked on long developing routes has to be a big focus. So for me investing in stud OL linemen would make more sense. If we get a speedster great, but it doesnt matter if JD is on his back. Signed..."Fat Boy Fan Club".

It is seeming to be less likely Jonathan Allen will be able to be traded. ChicagoNiners and Detroit are the teams I have heard mentioned at all with him. If AP cannot pull a trade off, do they cut him?
