Let's Get Back Into Second Round

I don't have an opinion yet on LeRibeus - but as to whether we could have had him in the 4th round - says WHO?

NFL Draft Scouts. CBS Draft Scouts. Walter Football.

Edit: I do like to hear about his nasty streak. One of the things I always liked most about the Patriots is their offensive line always went out to punish and sometimes after the play they would give a nice little shot. If this kid has a "nasty" streak, that is something I would like.

That analysis would explain Shanny's liking the guy to a large extent.

Keep in mind that Jarvis Jenkins was considered a huge reach as well.

scratching head. this guy had repeated weight and academic problems. not a good pass blocker. guess he'll fit into play action game.

coulda done better IMO.

What happened to Bobby Massie? Boykin?

Mayock's take: "He's a tough guy. Short arms, but he's got a nasty disposition."

LeRibeus started 13 games at LG last year. Used man blocking, but said he felt more comfy in zone scheme used in shrine game. #redskins

nfldraftscout.com - rated as a 2nd-4th round pick and ranked 5th best guard prospect.

I like Walter's site, but I trust Shanny more than them!

I wish I did, but I don't.

The earliest anyone had him going was 90. Consensus was 140. Mayock was 178.

That's a huge reach.

Fans demand...

"We need OL". "Take an OL". "We better draft OL early on".

Redskins take an OL.

Fans react...

"%*&%^^#". "&*^%@*". "#*&^%^#".

you're right. fans forgot proper adjectives like good OL with high ceiling.....or......athletic RT not prone to injury.

Come on BB, even you were surprised by that pick. And it looks like there is only one fan here who is genuinely upset by it.

Gil Brandt - LeRibeus is a first day starter at guard. He scored a 31 on the wonderlic last month.

Surprised? Sure. Like I said a few hours ago, Coach Shanahan would be a good poker player. And we did get an extra pick. So far, so good.

I fail to see the connection between a 31 reading comprehension test and first day starter. pls amplify. dude has also had weight problems. had one good year. seems like a raffle ticket to me.

and did Brandt mean starter on any team or the Skins?

This blurb fro the NFL site I think further solidifies Leribeus as a "Shanny guy"

OVERVIEW
Leribeus returned for his senior campaign after being academically ineligible as a junior, and was the same scrappy, reliable inside blocker that he has been throughout his career. He has the size and technique inside to play early at the next level or be a reliable backup, which gives him fifth-round value as a guard or potential center.
ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Leribeus is a very good scheme and overall run blocker in SMU's offense. He is quick off the ball with his first step and almost always gets his hands on blocks early. He is an active player who will fight to sustain his blocks downfield. He shows good effort and motor to stay with the play and is just as effective when working in space as a puller. Some small issues with his footwork and athletic ability show up when he tries to work to the second level, but overall he almost always finds a way to block his man.
WEAKNESSES Leribeus is a bit slow and struggles athletically. This could be a problem at the next level, as he isn't a very strong or explosive blocker. He would be better served to work within a zone blocking scheme where he isn't expected to fully move defenders.
