Josh Harris Speaks... Commanders is permanent name.

opposing fans

if were talking about the support from fans of THIS franchise... there weren't 63,950 of them at Fedex field in 2023... the total number may have gone down, but HOME team fans in 2024 was MASSIVELY higher than in 2023
There was some word too that the Harris ownership was trying to renegotiate and get out of the massive ticket reseller market that Farquaad (is that the official name? I really don't want to type his name anymore) got the team into. They have a strong interest in trying to keep the tickets sold into real fans. What a novel concept.

Couple thoughts-

Indeed the market is a transient one, that is inarguable. But it’s not a new phenomenon. Why is the local viewership different now? I honestly don’t know.

Consumers cutting the cord is not limited to the area. It is occurring everywhere. I also don’t know if streaming services, products like Sunday Ticket, and illegal options effect the numbers, but I would think that those measures are universal as well.

I expect that the 2025 season will show much stronger local viewership numbers than 2024.

It is a transient market because of the Federal workforce located in Washington DC. Not everybody, but a lot of people are here for 4 years at a time. Also many local Federal contractors who move from contract to contract.

But to contrast that data center alley is in Ashburn Virginia which has local employees for many many years, and attracts more from other states.

The bottom line is the DC is hot

I take comfort in the article on ESPN which talked about the extreme bitterness that Lord Farquaad currently has about losing this franchise. If we move stadium, change uniforms and change names then "he who shall not be named" can move on far easier, as nothing is left of what he once owned. Whilst I didn't like the choice of name, knowing that he is being tortured every time he sees the name Commanders, especially when we are doing well, makes the non name change easier to swallow.

I think Harris was in a no win situation, he'd upset many people no matter what he did, and fans would proclaim they weren't buying merchandise until the name they want is in place. The name is a bit meh, but it could have been worse, so at some point this back and forth is going to have to stop. As a fanbase we all need to move forward and get full behind the team, if anything, just to banish the constant negativity that has lingered around this franchise for decades. If the negativity goes, regardless of the name, that will stick it to Farquaad more than anything, and we will have truly washed that stain (skid mark) away.

Well my first piece of Comms gear arrived. This is the hat that Coach Gibbs was wearing in Detroit. If it is good enough for Coach it is good enough for me. I bought this to mix in with my Skins gear when I am with my kids who have Comms jerseys. This is the only Comms thing I plan on owning for the foreseeable future.

So, for those openly subversive this is my plan. Buy a Commanders cap and a Redskins' logo patch. Sew the patch onto the back of the cap. Then, in support of the head coach, wear your cap backwards.

I LIKE THAT!!! My cap is getting pretty worn out, and will need to be replaced before too awful long (for public wear, I'll never let my pink one go for home use.)

Well, since we are still talking about this, NOPE I still haven't even considered buying any of that ugly Commander gear.

They do have some nice Redskins hats available online though.

Kinda surprised that Seattle is not Vancouver’s team.
I bet a number of Seattle fans vacation in Vancouver. That may explain why Vancouver is not Seahawk territory.

How would that explain it? Vancouverites don’t like tourists or don’t like tourists from Washington?

His comments show his true colors and what a nasty human being he really is. It's a thing of beauty that we all now know how miserable and downright bitter he is towards the team and their success last season. Honestly, as Godly as Joe Gibbs is, I don't know how he could stand to hang out with him. But I like to think the football gods are rewarding the fan base by giving Lord Farquaad the same sense of misery he inflicted on this team and the fan base for 24 years. The only thing that would make the situation better is if he gave all the money he got for the sale of the team to some Nigerian prince who promised to double his money. F Dan Snyder. I hope he's miserable until his last day here.
