The Owner talks about the 2024 season....

Yup, he said it - not changing the name. I am not surprised, I guess.

I want a follow up 'Josh - you talked about how 'Commanders' is viewed in the building. What do you say to the many many fans who view it as an affront, a left over of the Dan Snyder era, and just a bad name for the franchise they love?'.

I want to hear his response to that. The answer is 'we really don't care - get over it'. And of course, that will never be said in public. But I'd like to hear him under pressure give a response of some kind.

Yes, for any who didn't hear, he clearly said that coaches and players have embraced the name, and they are going with it.

Obviously no mention of fans. I mean, the thing is, fan opinion will be divided. If we want to pressure this, I guess one thing we could do is push forward some stuff that smears the name, like Washington Commodes, Washington Commies. Maybe DM the team vigorously with that.

I am surprised looking at the Youtube comments next to the stream - there are quite a few people saying they would never buy "Commanders" gear. I know I read many here saying that, but I wasn't aware how many people felt that strongly (at least right now).

I wonder if messaging Magic would have any better results.

Personally, I think this is a good call. It's not my favorite name in the world but it's not that bad and honestly if they keep winning I couldn't care less about the name.
Personally, I am not worried about the name that much. However, I do see the desire to completely cut off the connections to Snyder. There is so, so much disgust with that guy in our recent history; what he did to this fanbase was pretty atrocious. He was the "steward" of something that should have been bigger than himself, and that is the exact opposite of what he did.

I get why people want to move on from it. The team clearly doesn't agree. I do think it is interesting to consider how those who feel aggrieved could try to move the decision-makers. Not sure it would work but it would be interesting to see the attempt. I may join if someone were to have some plan, because while it doesn't greatly bother me, I would prefer having nothing to do with Snyder.

As with all things, it's not always about the result but how we get there. Harris could've laid this to rest the moment he took control of the team. Instead, he's let the fanbase swing in the wind for 2 years and only finally answered the question when pressed a 2nd time today.

There's no sense crying about it. We are the 'Commanders' for my lifetime and yours. But I will say I will not view Harris the same way after today.

There are those with their heels dug in on this, and I do get it. But I've chosen to look at it a bit like a scar, you don't really like that it's there, but it reminds you of what you've been through and what you had to do to get where you are now. It is also important to consider perspective, for some folks (of the younger persuasion) what the Commanders are about is Jayden Daniels and playing in title games.

There are other spots to give us longer time fans plenty of bones (uniforms, the stadium).

I think as far as Harris is concerned, fans spoke in terms of jersey sales and team support. The old guard will remain unhappy, but the new generation honestly count more. The generation of Daniels will carve their own history and tradition.

But even if there is no name change, I really hope they do something about the fight song. I love HTTR. HTTC is just awful on every level.

Unfortunately this, had a group of younger people over Saturday for a small gathering, ages 25-28ish, one guy was a huge JD5 fan, kept saying Commanders and I kept correcting, then I gave up.

I just wish we'd get the logo back at this point

It's not a movie dagnabbit. We are going to the moving pictures. Stupid kids don't know how to speak right.

The logo isn't coming back. We need to stop. There's no way humanly possible to have the name 'Commanders' and that logo. It's not happening.

I'd like to see the logo in the Ring of Honor or in historical films, but yeah, the old logo is not coming back. I do think there's room to improve the W.
