Trading Daniels for 3 FRPs is one thing. Wasting one of those picks on Mendoza is quite another.

JD needs to play, he hasn't figured it all out and he hasn't looked good all season. It doesn't mean he can't get back to 2024 form but let him get some rhythm going before the season ends. Next season is going to be interesting. You would think we would look to sign him long term after the 2026 season and with a strong 2026 that could still be the case. But this thing has gone sideways quickly and now we're back at square one wondering if we have our guy.

Weren't the Snyder years enough to convince you that repeated "Drastic Changes" usually do more harm than good? We haven't had an elite QB in my entire adulthood (unless you count 1 year of RGIII). We now have one that has shown elite traits, albeit with injury risks.... and you want to jettison him after one bad year?

We have a potential unicorn... three firsts isn't nearly worth the risk of giving up a 50% chance that we have an Allen, Mahomes, Lamar in house....
We have too many holes, and not enough draft picks to compete in this league.

The only way to get more draft picks is to trade down, and if we want even more, to trade a current player for additional picks.

He's the only player we can get picks for. He's the only player other teams desire. Pretty simple decision.

The alternative is to keep him, and be the Cincinnati Bengals with Burrow.

QB in the NFL is the hardest position in all of sports to fill well.

It's not a smart argument brother. Because you cannot win consistently in the NFL without a difference making QB. You just can't. You don't trade him away when you've likely drafted him - that's insanity. This franchise and Jayden Daniels legacy will not be written in this coming offseason. Yes, they gambled some and gave away picks that likely we should've had a death grip on. But that's the 2026 draft. It's not the next 5 drafts.

There is plenty of time to right the ship without doing something insane.

Let's get back to the thread topic.

Quinn was specifically asked today about the idea of sitting Daniels the rest of the way. He basically punted saying Jayden was out for Sunday but they would reevaluate when the time came. He also said that the topic hadn't come up or really been a focus which I sort of have to raise the bullshit flag on.

This could be someone above him taking the decision out of his hands.

I'm sure he'd like to save his job and try to win a meaningless game or two, but someone with a longer-term focus may have stepped in and exercised restraint.

I'm perfectly fine sitting him this week. We don't need that turf monster shredding his knee too. With our luck this year, I'm worried about everyone actually playing.

So now they're scared of playing him on turf?
Can you put him in a glass case with flashing lights and horns out there while they're at it?

OR

Maybe just draft the biggest, strongest RB you can find that has just enough skill to pass and run all the RPO stuff Kliff likes and just break out 5 on special occasions?

Maybe a rotation like Spurrier?

This soft treatment of one of the most overly protected positions in all of sports is just ridiculous.

Like I said before, if he is cleared and healthy? Play him

That didn't work out so well last week.

The team announced today that he won't be playing this weekend.

Interesting, because DQ said he was supposedly healthy enough to have gone back into the game late last weekend.

That means that either the owner, GM, or player/agent said enough is enough. We're not risking him so DQ can try to save his job.

or the day after the game, the elbow swelled up and showed more damage than was visible in the moment.

Oy fucking vey.

Your assumption, you do not have any facts to base your statement upon. You should have predicated your statement with "my opinion is" or "I believe" etc.

So, after 25 years of suckage at QB we finally (I think) find one, and you want to trade him away? I think I'd rather just take our pick this year and trade down to build the lines. It's where it all starts

They were officially eliminated from the playoffs. They were witness to a gruesome Ertz injury that likely ended his career. Jayden clearly wasn’t/isnt 100%.

Think about how many seasons have ended on that turf at MetLife. My guess is AP met with DQ and told him to shut it down, based on the change in verbiage Dan used today.

I thought we found our franchise QB last year, I’m a lot less certain of that after this year, but there’s really no choice but to play out this hand. Hopefully future JD5 looks a lot more like the 2024 version than the 2025 version. Only time will tell.
