Your not cereal about dis, is you?
All writers rely on editors pretty heavily. One reason is that it's actually hard to read your own writing. Most of us read our intentions instead of what's on the page. This is why so many homonyms and embarrassing typos slip through. I know I have been guilty of this any number of times. I do try to catch them and hope my editors find the ones I miss, but every so often they slip through. The one that really sticks to mind was associated with me, but not mine.
In a lot of cases, the reporter does not title their own articles or work. In this case, I had scored an interview with Mark Hamill. It was on the occassion of Bob Anderson's death. Anderson was the fight choreographer for the original Star Wars trilogy, Princess Bride, and many other movies. He also dueled Erol Flynn back in the day, was a gold medal fencer, and a Royal Marine during WWII. So, he was a pretty big deal. Besides, as a Star Wars nerd, scoring an interview with Mark to do an homage to Bob was a major highlight. So, I kept checking the website often to see when my interview was posted.
I never called the office faster than when I saw the title "Darth Wader's Swords Master"
