How Good is Jayden Daniels?

Heard this bit on a podcast.

Don’t care their age, contract status, or any other baggage.

Only care about the 2024 season, and your only options are NFC QB’s, and your mindset is you’re still competitive going into week 5 (say 3-1 or 3-2) and you gotta pick a qb to the Super Bowl.

I’d take Jayden Daniels… I know everyone is drowning in stats, and I think that’s great that he’s excelling in ways that you can put numbers to, but to me… the result of the eye test is “holy shit he’s good”

The dude has the natural ability to see where he wants the ball to go, and then put it there.

The sky is the limit for JD.

I was all in for Maye mostly because of his size. I did not want another brittle QB.

I love the competitiveness of JD. There is no drama with him........at least so far. He just wants to win and he's humble.

We are on a journey and it's a wonderful one. Enjoy the ride!

I'm pleasantly pleased to see he's not nearly as reckless as advertised. To be more precise, I'm glad he's a fast learner. After that huge pop he took in game two, he's been much smarter about when to slide and use the sideline. The biggest fear or worry about him was never about talent, it was that he'd have an RGIII=like career due to injuries.

I've always understood that injuries are an almost inevitable part of the game, but there are players who put themselves at greater risk. Daniels will continue to need to play smart to minimize both his number of hits and how he is hit.

He's good enough that he has me doing something I haven't done for about 6 years...I'm actually going out with the specific intention to watch the game. Wearing a Redskins jersey, cause I still hate the commanders name.

VR training certainly seems like a cheat code…for now. Once every team and sport fully supports it, the playing field will level. I do, of course, love that we are early beneficiaries now.

I wonder how much it really helps and how much is a placebo effect?

I don't know if it really matters, but I'm curious.

I don't think placebo effect applies - he's literally going through mental reps (probably doubling the number of times per week when he hears Kliff Kingsbury make a playcall, and then going through everything he has to do pre-snap). Just from a repetition standpoint, that's got to be invaluable. He probably knows this offense better than anyone other than Kingsbury himself and it's week 5. How much the actual 'throwing' aspect is helpful, no idea there - it's hard to know what he sees, how accurate the VR is in terms of improving his accuracy, etc... but the results seem to speak for themselves.

I read that they are actually throwing the next opponents defense up against him and programming the D to do the kinds of things they actually anticipate in the real game. That's crazy detail.

I suppose another way to put your point would be wondering if it's more the psychological edge the extra reps and familiarity with the offense gives him, vs. actually improving his accuracy. But then, how do we account for record-breaking accuracy be a rookie?

Despite the rough start the dude still puts up 34.

If not for Maclaurin falling down at the 2 and then dropping another TD it could have been much more in only 3 quarters.

I'd say he is exceeding any and all expectations.

He’s very good. He’s going to get A LOT better. You’re going to see the number of times he has to escape drop game to game and season to season. He’ll learn where all the outlets are and start hitting them.

And he will continue to have the athletic ability to get out of trouble.

Hes special. I was not on his bandwagon before the draft but im smart enough to admit when I was stupid.

One of the locker room interviews was with someone that was basically saying him and a couple other guys pride themselves on getting in early (5/6 am) and they find Jayden’s already there and wrapped up his workout or film study session, meaning Jayden’s getting there at 4/5 am.

Pretty good way to take leadership of a team. People respond most to seeing their leaders work their asses off.

Other thought: when you have a rookie qb a huge concern is dealing with interceptions. You almost always hear someone reference Payton Mannings wild rookie year of interceptions as part of that conversation. Glad to see his interceptions are, so far, totally non-impactful on the games. Gives him a solid chance to just move past them and get used to not letting them bother him.

Those other guys were Luvu and Wagner. Impressing those two has to mean something.

One things for sure, I would rather have Daniels than any of the other quarterbacks in the NFC East.

Think about how much these other 3 guys are getting paid and only one of them has even been to a Super Bowl.

Dak at $60M?

No thank you.

I'll say this – Jayden Daniels is a total dynamo, the guy's got mad talent. His mobility mixed with a solid arm is making a difference. But, gotta remember, he still needs to work on decision-making under pressure. If he locks that in, he could be TOP!

Second thing – he's lacking some big-level experience, but he's got time, right?
