I passed!
No way, I've had various relatives in town over the past few weeks and have been seriously slacking!!!So am I the only slacker here lately and everyone else is killin it in the gym?
Ha, my goal, as with any tennis tournament, is to finish the tournament with all my racquets in one piece and not 1) flung into the bushes and/or 2) broken in half from being smashed on the court ( <--- both of those have happened before, the latter, multiple times...oops).I expect a full story about your adventures on the court..
This morning I feel like a wad of chewed up bubble gum. This mornings run is gonna be interesting to say the least.

Shouldn't be giving me any ideas about ordering my own trophies...
40lbs in 10 weeks is nothing to shake a stick at! Good on you..
I hope you know that your story is a huge motivator to others as well, whether we're gym warriors or casual fitness enthusiasts. So thank you for sharing and I hope you do it more often! For the record, 38.8lbs in 10 weeks is a major accomplishment. As for the guy who "beat" you, he beat you in competition only. Guaranteed he 1) lost muscle mass if he was starving himself and 2) gained weight back after the competition was over. You did things the right way and will reap the long term benefitsApparently I'm feeling social enough this morning that I can actually sit alone in my living room and join in on a discussion or two.Clearly in each case I'm talking about myself rather than joining in. Baby steps...
I'm not a workout warrior, just another aging mid-fifties guy trying to find a way to stay ahead of a clearly slower and slower metabolism. I had posted in another thread that I was participating in a biggest loser contest at work. I came in second, losing 38.8 pounds in 10 weeks. The dirty bastard that won was starving himself and looked near death. I consider nearly killing yourself to be cheating, and explained that to him, once he recovered enough to understand what I was saying.
Anyway, it was good motivation to get focused and back on track. Low carb diet and running work well for me, as long as I stick to them on a daily basis, and now that I am not focusing on weight specifically, I'm adding some weight work as well. And again, my running and weight work is minimal, compared to some of you guys, but my goal is to try to maintain a healthy weight and lose fat.
Great to read through this thread and see all the success stories! I'll keep checking back for more motivation.![]()
