I’m sure I’m missing some others, but just look at that list and you will see how badly the Redskins have evaluated/drafted/developed top QB picks.

The only sustained success this team has had since the midget took over is mismanagement of the QB position. I’m curious as to how much more of an emphasis the staff commits to the run now to K. Allen’s benefit.

Bad fit in Turners offense or not RR never wanted Haskins as his QB.

Which brings up another point... when have they ever moved on from a QB who ended up an all world player? I’ll wait. I guess we should've kept Trent Green and I sort’ve liked Stan Himphries career. But seems like we struggle more with who we should select in the first place far more than we do accurately evaluating them once they are here.

But whatever. Benching Haskins stinks. Either he did something stupid or the team is doing something stupid, but whatever the case the team has more likely than not wasted a first round pick because of ridiculously stupid front office management. You don't draft a first-round QB during the last year of a coach's contract. I hate to be That Guy, but I've been saying this for two years and here we are.

They’ve hired Head Coaches based on their supposed QB guru skills and they couldn’t find a Qb for nothing so maybe a former linebacker finds one?
In my opinion, Kyle Allen ain’t all that, if he was, Carolina never lets him go. He’s just a guy Ron knows.

I think this is the big deal. Rivera doesn't care where he got drafted, Snyder does. Rivera SHOULDN'T care. I personally have wanted him to get his shot for an extended period. I really hope this means we move on, right or wrong. I don't want this back and forth and I didn't want to leave the door cracked with the argument that he 'didn't get a fair shot.' I really REALLY hope that's not all we hear over the next 12 months.

We need more drama. Yes Henry - it is a sign of organizational failure but you’re wrong in your two possibility supposition. I get your drift, but Rivera didn’t make the Haskins pick. While moving on from him is acknowledging yet another failure, if Haskins doesn’t have the goods, it’s the only positive move Rivera can make under the circumstances. It’s also positive from the vantage point of clearly confirming he isn’t being ‘directed’ by Little Lord Fauntleroy. So I would argue it might represent major growth. Yes - we are probably still doomed for eternity but it does give me hope even if I had hoped Haskins could prove his critics wrong.

Of course he should care where Haskins was drafted. A first round QB is a huge investment. There are very few reasons to abandon that investment after four games. I can only hope that this is disciplinary, which of course sucks too, but at least makes sense.

Not really.... he didn't make the pick, and from all reports, Kyle Smith didn't have a 1st round grade on Haskins either.

Something we have (and a lot of teams have) done is put too much emphasis on this. Josh Doctson was a 1st round pick and we tried for way too long to believe he was the guy. Once the pick is made, it should be forgotten. If you draft a guy in the 1st and he clearly wasn't worth it, you're only hurting yourself holding onto hope. He either is or he isn't. The longer you delay the evaluation because of that, the longer you're passing on other things. I clearly wanted to give Haskins the year because I wanted him to prove it one way or the other. If Rivera has made that decision, then so be it. I don't like it, or agree with it, but I'm damn happy he's got the power, and the gonads, to make this move after week 4.

You’re right - there are very few reasons, one of them being it was a horribly wrong and disastrous pick. If that’s the case, the worst possible decision would be to stubbornly compound that error by engaging in a sustained effort to make a franchise starter out of a guy you don’t believe can be one.

We had this exact same discussion when Gruden benched Bob. Turned out back then Snyder wasn't done meddling despite the radical, unprecedented, unpopular benching. I'm not convinced this means anything now either.

Fine. But if history has proven anything, it's that coaches only get so many moves like this before Snyder get's sick of it and starts butting in. Making a big one after four games ... let's just say Rivera better get things right quickly. He just spent his Honeymoon money.

This team is destined for 4-6 wins. There is no talent on offense. McLaurin ... maybe Gibson. That's it. Why foodle about with the QB right now? What's the point? It's not like there's a guy we are desperate to develop or something.

If Haskens really isn't the guy, take the lumps. Draft a guy next year. Doing it now, after four games ... that's a 'win now' move. Pulling something like that under an owner with historically little patience doesn't make a ton of sense.

Time to win now, I guess.

I don’t know enough to have an opinion. I do think they are looking at a division up for grabs and whether because they think they can compete for the title with someone else under center, or they feel it’s important to try and make a run to motivate players, it does seem to be a factor.

Maybe Haskins is immature and they are sending a message to the guys they do believe will be on the team down the road... I don’t know...

This definitely has the feel of disciplinary. Maybe it’s disciplinary in something he did in reaction to benching. I don’t know. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Some of the other posts above. This does feel like a 4-6 win team, but right now, 6 wins might win the division. It’s hard to think that will hold true, but the way things have played out, it won’t take much to win the division. And if this is purely based on his on field play and the coaches think they can win a few more games with one of the other guys, then you make the move. You don’t know if this is your best chance to win the division.
