Gotta find a QB. Normally, I would not be in a favor of a free agent signing. I want to find our long-term guy in the draft. But we seem incapable of it. The injury to Smith, if not in an of itself a career-ender, shows he's probably not got the durability to last a full season anymore (and he's limited even if he can). Haskins can show you a decent, even good quarter once in awhile, but he's not the guy imho.

I'm all in on going out and getting Wentz. He's a helluva QB when right. And I just have a feeling Rivera could get him right. Or, if the Jets decide to move on from Darnold, I'd snatch him up in a heartbeat.

point is we're down 20 - 19 with the ball in our hands. Regardless of the outcome... we were talented enough to win the game.... when we were told we would be talent deficient and lucky to win 5 games..

Wentz is a brain damaged anti-leader. He's basically Haskins with more mobility and accuracy.

I think he could still be a very good QB under the right circumstances. Just have to disagree there.
 
Do not want to give up any draft capital for a broken reclamation project like Wentz.
With that contract,no one should be dumb enough to trade for him...unless Bruce or Vinny become employed somewhere...

Either develop what you already have or open up the checkbook for a seasoned veteran.
IMO, that's the only two options you have because you can't draft another Qb and start over (again)when it's clear no one has the patience to develop one.
 
Here are the numbers the broken reclamation project has managed since 2016:

16,811 total passing yds
62.7% completion rate
250 yds/game career avg
113 TDs to 50 INTs

That's a pretty solid foundation. He's been in the NFL 5 seasons, is about to turn 28. I'd trade Haskins and a 7th rounder for him and wouldn't blink an eye. I think it goes without saying that if they want to move him to avoid any distractions, Philly will work something out on a contract. And we get a guy who twice a year has something to prove against a division rival.

Wentz's flaws are qualitative moreso than quantitative.

Yes, I can see that he has some amazing throws in his toolbox, such as the Boston Scott, but his decision-making reeks of a headstrong knucklehead. The concussions he had might have affected his psyche and transformed his character into this headstrong knucklehead.
 
Don't know about the concussions. True that sometimes the numbers don't tell the whole story. Could be that this scenario as it is playing out humbles him and motivates him to succeed elsewhere too. I'm thinking he's a pretty big upgrade vs. Haskins.
 
Reaves had his knees broken on two crucial long runs.

Most football players never get humbled unless they hit rock bottom. I doubt that Wentz will reach that point anytime soon. He's more likely to join the ranks of Jeff George or Jamarcus Russell, along with his fellow #2 overall QB mates, such as RGIII, Leaf, Trubisky, etc. RGIII also was full of it.
 
He may be Trubisky, but he's way had more success than any of those other comparisons :)

BTW, how is it that Kevin O'Connell got more out of Haskins than Scott Turner?

Kirk Cousins was not great, but he was above average here for a few years.

And don't ever forget Tony Banks!

It's a solid foundation for mediocrity in the NFL. Wentz is a stats guy and that's it. He disappears in big games, often. He is not a winner.

I think that during McNabb's "wristband refusal beef" that Brady wore one even then, IIRC. Or at least some QB in the upper tiers.
