Results are the same though. Zorn had a better record, or at least I saw that somewhere. Mike S is not living up to his reputation or SB rings. Really, looking at the team objectively and not at the coaches, we have the same team except for two exceptional guys at QB and RB. And that team has a losing track record. Yes I'm giving credit to last year to Morris and Griffin. They made it happen and were able to mitigate the weakness in the OL by use of a great running game.

This year Mike S has changed the scheme due to Griffin's knee and its not working. Not at all. Dysfunction is alive and well in Wash DC.

That is three terrible seasons and one flash in the pan!

The "one-season" was last year with a winning record and that was the anomaly. You're the one not paying attention if you think things are that improved!

That's not what I said. You are simply interjecting your own ideas into my statement. I said bad situation worse nothing about hoe Cerrato ran things. We were bad, Shanahan was brought in to rebuild with great expectations. Last year we left the season hopeful that we were turned around and that we see glory days ahead. This year, those expectations are shot to hell with the reality that we simply aren't very good. We are limited with draft picks to rebuild and Shanahan has one season to completely turn things around with a proven track record of the inability to build a team from scratch.

I would say that is worse than when Shanahan arrived with the promise of better times. We are sitting in the doldrums again with the only promise of some extra cash to address positions of need. You really trust Mike Shanahan to spend it wisely? You know...the guy who swears by a system with undersized lineman? Tyler Polumbus!

That's exactly what you said. When Shanahan came here we were at the end of zorn's second year and a decade of cerrato which followed 5 years of no management when the team was in ownership limbo.

What I think he's saying is that yes, we suck, and yes, it may be time to fire our coach and yes, we may have just spent the past four years accomplishing next to nothing.

However, this team is, at the very least, in a very good position regarding the salary cap. If we do need to completely rebuild (though I'm not convinced that's true) we will have the tools to do it, as opposed to where we were in 2009, up against the cap with a ton of old players who were being paid far more than they were worth.

Now, all that said, if Snyder still refuses to hire football people to do footballs jobs like most other successful teams do, such as hire a real GM who knows what the hell he's doing and allow him to do it ... none of this matters. None of it. All the bickering we're doing now means nothing.

If he hires some old retreat and gives him full reign ... If he hires some young coach and runs all over him ...

We'll be here in five years having the exact same discussion.

Give him a two year extension, with an out after next season, and let him get the 5 years he said he needed.

With so many, being so overly concerned, with the mythical notion that we are a laughing stock, it's ironic that anyone would advocate giving validity to the notion, by firing the Sham, short of his contracted 5 year term. And, during the season, to boot. Unless validating the myth, making it seem real, is their main concern.

My honest wish for the remainder of this season is to sit Griffin, and let Kirk show us what he can do. Then assess from there. From that point, based on his performance, we can either trade him for a good return or trade Griffin. I don't care who you are and what was paid to get you, if you get outplayed, you gotta go. Think back to when Brady was given the job over Bledsoe. People went nuts. Then they traded Bledsoe, and people went even more nuts. I seriously doubt the Pats wish they could undo that trade. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen.

Either way, anyone who thinks this coaching staff will ever assemble a contender, needs their head examined.

Sure, let's give more time to prove everyone correct who suggested 4 years ago that he was incapable building a team as the Head Coach so it takes longer to get someone in here to do it right...like a real GM.

For the record, I did not want him. Always thought he was overrated. Still do. I don't think he'll be the man to lead us back to consistency, either. And, I'm certain he will be fired after next season. The mistakes he's made since he got here are many.

However, his reputation brought respectability back to a franchise that had just dumped a yuck (Zorn), a schmuck (Cerrato), and a ****ing bingo caller.

As much as I believe he will continue to be a coaching failure, here, I think if we wish to not lose all of the positive aspects he's helped bring us, we cannot fire him, yet.

If we do, he will be given a pass, from football people, since he will not have had a normal full year since he's been here. Even though I think he helped create much of his own distractions/setbacks, he will not "own" them, if we fire him this offseason.

It's just an opinion. If they fire him, I promise you, I won't lose a minutes sleep over it. I just think it's a PR mistake, for a team that can ill afford one.
