Will, do. With these converters tough you have to really pay attention to which lenses they are compatible with. They are generally only compatible with tele or tele zoom, and mostly 2.8 or faster. Some do work on f4 and higher lenses, but be darn sure your lens is on the list. The sticking point seems to be the autofocus. If the converter cuts the light down to much the focus then screws the pooch.

Thanks... yeah the Nikon stuff is tricky and they also have physical compatibility problems where you can really screw stuff up if they're not meant for each other. Doesn't look like my stuff matches anything right now, guess I'll have to get the wide angle lenses I've been eyeing for a while now.

i have this Sigma lens that I have been pretty happy with. Not sure how wide you're looking though.

Thanks to a suggestion by El, I've been eyeing this...

I actually bought the previous version of this lens the DX I but unfortunately it wouldn't AF with my D5200. :(
Lesson learned.. This is the one I've been looking for and will eventually pull the trigger on... or I'll put a new exhaust on my bike. :D

Ahhh you wanted real wide. That's a really nice true landscape lens especially for the price. 2.8 nikon glass would cost an arm and a leg.

Yeah, I went with the 16-35 for my FX cameras and it was...well, a lot!

That is the exact lens you want w/ the DX format cameras DM. Awesome little lens! And you can have some real fun with it! Now, after that, invest in a real image editing software and you can call yourself a pro! ;)

I'm already a pro at like 2 other things El. :D But I thought you had to make money at something to be called professional? I need to charge our broker for a couple pics so I can write all this **** off!

Anyway... Picking up the lens today it seems half of e labor force in Italy is on strike so my new exhaust for the bike will have to wait!

Planning a trip to the Grand Canyon on the bike next week.... I'm bailing on the Denver game and would much rather spend my week taking pictures in the desert than suffer through another live Redskins game this year... Oh I'm sorry can I use the term Redskins here? Dammit all.

Have fun!! And with that lens make sure you get some early morning/late night pics showing off what that 2.8 will allow you to do.

Took couple Hunter Moon pics, no sign of a shadow eclipse though.

I like the color on yours better. Mine was just boring grey/white, no atmospheric help at all.

Very nice guys!
