DRAFT DAY (3)

Jared Abbrederis still on the board and we take a tweener wr...ok

@john_keim: Grant ran a 4.64 in the 40 at the combine....But our ESPN scouts said his "ball skills rank among elite in 2014 class."

This is what they're saying just about Grant's hands, alone -

* one of the best pair of hands in the draft
* Impressive hands catcher -- quick, soft mitts.
* Determined runner with the ball in his hands

I like the pick.
Not sexy or a flashy gamebreaker, but I see him as a potential quiet but solid #2 or #3 in the future.

Yeah, they must really like this guy, because WR is way down the list of needs this team has, IMO.

Seems like we already have a shitload of slot receivers. Not a big fan of that pick regardless of him being first team all C-USA. Seems like there were many receivers rated ahead of him. Does he play Special Teams? Seemed like there were a lot of guys still on the board that filled a need and play ST so I'm really underwhelmed with this pick.

Possession guy. Nice 3rd and long option as a #3 ... with all the attention that's going to be paid to Jackson, Garcon and Reed, you need a guy who can run a solid route against a nickel back, and then catch the damn ball to move the chains.

Yeah... there wasn't a safety or D lineman on inside linebacker available?

I mean there's a big drop off from #2 to #3 Wr on this team but we have not one long term safety on the team and need a D lineman that can generate pressure

Coulda used d-line more but meh.

Looks like Hank or Paul's days possibly over?

Seems to me you either believe in the FO, and the specific skill sets and roles they're looking for, or you don't. I've seen nothing from this new FO to indicate they don't have a solid plan. They're not going to hit on everything--no one is--but I'm pretty comfortable giving them an offseason or two to put together a team.

We still need WR help here... we're also talking 5th rounder. Most 5th don't even make the team so a no. 5 pick who is a possible no. 4 is a bonus

Om, I do believe they have a plan but I'm not yet convinced they know exactly what they are looking for Offensively. I don't HATE the pick but I don't really think it presented the best value either. It's easy to say he'll eventually take over for Santana but with a limited number of roster spots, are you already looking at stashing him on the PS? Does he legitimately have a shot at making the team this year? That may be the case with 6th or 7th round picks but 5th rounders should have a legitimate shot at making the 53 man roster THIS year. If you believe he well then let's go ahead and cut ties with Moss and Hankerson now and try to make this new Offense look EXACTLY how you want it.

Jimbo, that's one of the things that concerns me the most - the way we're overloading at some positions and neglecting others, we're probably going to end up with some serious talent on the PS, which has a likelihood of being stolen by some other team.......if Grant goes on the PS - wouldn't the Eagles love to scoop him up, as a way of revenge for D-Jax ?
