Keith McGill still on the board (for round #4). Any takers? Big CB - 6-3/211...could do worse, IMO
 
Keim has a strange take on things at times.

A living, breathing body has a 'chance' to make the Redskins roster on the OL given its current constitution :laugh:

One report I was reading online indicated that Long was downgraded based on the knee injury and would have gone higher otherwise.

So, I don't see if he was going to go 'higher' (Round 2?) that Keim would now come along and doubt whether Long is an NFLer at all........................??
 
The draft really does come down to trust. The commentators on ESPN tonight trashed the Redskins picks for the most part. But media people trashed a number of Beathard's drafts in the 1980's and they produced HOF and pro bowl players.

I recall the 1983 draft being criticized for investing a first round pick in a corner that was only 5'8 and a third round pick in a 6'6 and 240 defensive end that played at small school Nevada-Reno.

Of course those two players were Darrell Green and Charles Mann :laugh: :laugh:

I think they proved they could play.

We need to find a way to get Murphy, Orakpo, and Kerrigan on the field at the same time.

(Gruden indicated as such in the press conference, that his versatility could allow him to move inside, as well as rush on passing downs, plus rotate with Rak and Kerrigan)

i agree i like him and RICH, Rich is pretty even minded i like listening to him.......All of them do say crazy stuff, i was following peoples reaction on twitter last night boy there are some Fans who don't see the big picture...(man)...that's why i like it here at BGO, theres not a whole lot of nonsense...

..MOST DEFINENTLY....I CONCUR ...but we have one problem...Haslett ...won't figure that out.....just kidding... Maybe Grudenwill tell him

I was listening to NFL radios draft coverage yesterday and they were loving the pick.. they did say Murphy struggled a bit with his hand in the dirt but we've seen Kerrigan put his hand down very effectively. ..


When we announced the pick the first thing I wondered was if he could be effective inside beside Riley.

i have seen Murphy compared to JJ Watt, and Jared Allen......so it looks good on paper
 
Let me first say, I just don't know...I have a limited sample size and only a modicum of football knowledge. I was adamant about going OLB, especially with our 1st pick in the draft, when we have 2 solid starters, a backup in Jackson who has proven to be more than serviceable and a 3rd year player in Jenkins who has had moments and is a solid contributor on ST.

This Murphy kid reminds me of Ryan Kerrigan, but looks to have a bit of a nasty streak like JJ Watt. He was rated to be lower 2nd round in most of the draft sites I could find. We picked him up in the middle of round 2 so it's not like we "reached" too far. Who knows at this point?

The one thing that continues to stand out for me about him is this; he had 15 sacks last year in a 13 game season to lead the NCAA. That says a lot.
 
Murphy isn't a sexy pick. He doesn't have high combine type numbers, but he's an old school, throwback football player. He's a high effort guy and he's smart. He's also versatile, as they moved him around quite a bit at Stanford. I like the pick, and I think there's a very good chance he'll start week 1 at ILB.

Is he fast enough to cover TE's? How is his lateral movement? Is he qhuick? From everything I have seen in the videos I saw of him over the last 12 hours :laugh: he seems to get into position, but from smarts...not quickness.

That's how you win the game of drafting. Getting guys that are starters for a long time. Doesn't matter whether you reached or not.
