Guys... Hank is coming off major knee surgery. We cant cut him while injured and i'm pretty sure given the time of the injury he's going to be LUCKY to be back week 1. Early reports after the surgery put him 7 to 9 months recovery but given the way Griff came back in that amount of time, i'd hope Allen and the training staff would be cautious about not rushing him back.

That said, I see Robinson being the odd man out here. There are 3 other receivers that play the same style game as him, who are more proven... only 1 of which was on the roster when we re-signed him. Personally I think we need Moss more for a leadership role then we do on the field. He can be contributor, but we also got really young this year... having a rock like Moss in the offense is huge.

I voted prefer not to on day 1 - with leaks about gang affiliations, locker room problems, and the assumption that he would demand (and get) top dollar.

Since then:
- No substantiation of gang affiliations whatsoever
- Multiple reports have come out and said that while him and Kelly didn't get along, Jackson was the furthest from a locker room problem (diva - yes, problem - no.) In fact, he's been cited as one of the 3 guys that rallied behind Riley Cooper after his racist rant video was released to bring peace in the locker room and get the team back on track
- We signed him for significantly less than top dollar.

While I'd prefer the FO stay risk-adverse, all things considered I'm impressed with the signing. Getting big name free agents is not a an automatic no-vote for most organizations, it's just been my stance on this organization because we have a track record of paying a huge mark-up on older guys that never pan out.

We got a guy in his prime, a legit play maker, and we paid a solid price for him. I have no problem with that.

That in no way means he's going to be a pro bowler for us for the next 3-4 years. It just means a sound business decision was made (assuming he isn't arrested for murder or drug running...)

That said, all concerns are legit. If he ****s up, no one can say there weren't signs.

On a more personal note, it's hard for me to go from wishing someone would slap the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique on his punk ass , to actively cheering him on, or getting all giddy over signing him, or celebrating his accomplishments as a Redskin, before they happen.

I realize that's my issue. But, it's me, so that makes it OK.

I don't think the contract strongly favors the Redskins, but it's not crippling either. So while I'm not thrilled, it could have been a lot worse.

And regardless of what his contract says, his addition should greatly improve the offense, so there's that.

You've been consistent with that mentality and from day one you said, repeatedly, that you would support him once he became a Redskin.

So kudos to you for that. And your issue isn't quite an issue, it's a normal thing.

gang affiliations has turned out to mean: he has friends that are active gang members.

i get that for the most part you are the company you keep, but the initial report (and reaction to the report) seemed to indicate he's running around with gang members on a regular basis. if that's the case - then shame on our front office for taking that risk. at this point, it seems much more accurate that he has friends he grew up with that resorted to gang lifestyle while he became a big time athlete - he's maintained those friendships. if that's the extent of it then shame on the eagles for doing what they did with their cowardly character assassination, and kudos to the redskins for figuring that out and snagging him for a solid deal.

who knows which way is right. we may never know. if he's arrested for gang related activities over the few years the eagles and detractors of jackson will jump up and down and scream "we told you so!"

if he's never arrested ever again for the rest of his life that will not serve as evidence that the report was wrong/exaggerated. the rest of us can't jump up and down and say "see, you were wrong" (note: no one is really taking that stance, i'm just saying...)

So. We'll see.

he just made a video with Snoop Dogg who is a well know "crip" in the rap game. He is even in the video throwing up C's which indicate crip affiliation.

Yup - but there's a difference between having friends and participating in the activities.

It's hard to know what the risk really is without knowing all the facts and all we have are the few things you listed.

It's a risky move - I hope our FO did their homework and found that yes, unfortunately Jackson has close relationships with people in gangs, but he hasn't done anything illegal and there's nothing to suggest he will in the future.

You'd think he'd legally change the spelling of his name if it bothered him that much?! Can't be that difficult. This all comes off as posturing to me.

Would imagine question 1 during his interview was 'what's the deal with all these gang links fella?'.

Would imagine clause 1 of his contract says something along the lines of 'if you've misrepresented or understated your links to any criminal/gang activity, your contract becomes null and void'.

I see a lot of speculation here about the depth chart now with DJax on the roster but no mention of Special Teams. Typically, the 4th and 5th guys on the WR depth chart play Special Teams. On many teams so to does the #3 man. Neither Moss or Hankerson are ST guys. I have no clue about Roberts. If Jackson isn't going to return punts, then he is out of Teams as well.

I just don't see the coaching staff keeping 5 WRs with none of them playing on coverage or return teams. This by itself could spell the end of Hankerson and Moss both, unless Moss can beat Roberts out clean for the slot position.
