Looks like the Deebo rumors have legs (unlike Deebo)

A 6th round pick and ~16M to see if he can cut a few pounds and get his explosiveness back, is my thinking…I don’t love it, but with Stafford officially back I bet Kupp goes nowhere. So it may be worth a flier with our copious amounts of cap space. If Deebo gets that burst back I could see Kliff having some fun out of the backfield. Sweeps, fake sweeps, RPO’s where Deebo can catch the ball downfield after a fake handoff…the vision is clear even if the player is risky.

If we really did want a multi-player like Deebo I'm surprised we didn't even try to keep Curtis Samuel last year. After all, Samuel is a poor man's Deebo. The other thing that is a little odd to me is that if they wanted a multiplayer then they should have used Sinnott more as he was billed as a TE/H Back/Full back.

I’m guessing part of the calculus regarding the Samuels is where we are now vs where we were last year?

I’m disappointed we didn’t see more from Sinnot, but I also think part of the issue is the versatility you mention. Hard enough to combine the receiver/oline type duties - ergo TEs usually having a longer development runway - as well as having quality guys ahead of you, unfamilar offense, etc, but then you throw that versatility in the mix? It’s asking a lot, IMO.

Sidenote: I recall Cooley saying he thought Sinnot had the same blocking problem Cooley had early on - closing his eyes at the point of contact. Wonder if anything came of that…

I feel like McCaffery, ideally, was drafted for that gadget/runner/low-depth-of-target WR role.

Will be interesting to see of he just needs a little more time baking at WR or busts. Also, not sure if Deebo in WAS helps or hurts Luke's development...on the one hand he gets a vet to watch and model his game after on the other hand he gets less snaps.

Personally, I'd stay away from Deebo but I can see some potential benefits.

Yeah, I'm not sure how exactly I feel about Deebo. But, if there's anyone I trust to know what the fair value would be for him -- it would be Peters.

I wouldnt give up much for Deebo, like at all. However, I'm not totally against him coming in and having some kind of prove it situation with us, I think he could succeed in that scenario.

Keim had a guy who covers the 49ers on recently. He was adamant that Deebo will be very hungry to re-establish himself after a down season. He generally had good things to say, citing Deebo as being a favourite in the locker room. Felt he could come in and be effective on screens, slants, and crossers.

Can’t really argue with taking a shit with him for a 5th.

And AP knows Deebo better than any 49’ers beat reporter. This is what gives me the confidence in this trade
