The Starter
I don't care much about the Greenbay game because that happened so early in the season that it's just rust and timing to me. Burrow was trash in the first game and usually starts off slow so that's typical. Yesterday was more concerning. I in no way think that our receiving core should be better than last year's, at least not right now. Maybe by the end of the season but Dyami Brown and Zachheus are clearly better receivers at this moment than Lane and Mccaffrey.I acknowledged the missing weapons may be part of Jayden’s statistical regression, but let’s not overstate the case. On paper our receiving corps should be improved over last year with the addition of Deebo Samuel and Jaylin Lane. And while the injured wideouts were definitely a big factor yesterday, that doesn’t explain why he had 18 incompletions against Green Bay.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Jayden and have the highest hopes for him, but there is no denying he is playing worse this year.
With that being said, and some key drops included, there were also a number of throws that Jayden flat out missed yesterday.
First off people get mad when I say it but that brace is bothering him. Think about having a heavier, bulky, movement limiting device on your leg. His mechanics look off to me because of it. He's also way slower now. He looks like he's running closer to 4.6 this year on most plays and he got hurt on a called QB run where I think that he still was affected by the brace.
He's having trouble out running people, escaping, and playing with natural fluidity. He's making too many arm throws, off his back foot. Our run game has also come to a halt, just like it did last season.
