Watched Bullock go over the defense on a video podcast. He's good and detailed. Some takeaaways
A. Lattimore is struggiling -- especially in man coverage, yet they still run a lot of man. No shocker of course this one. He talked about how he's not playing with confidence which is evident with him giving Wrs more cushion than he normally does because he's afraid he's going to get beat.
B. Offenses are adept at smoking out their man coverage via using motion and running crossers (though for man coverage to handle that) and pick routes.
C. The TE issues seems to be often about who is covering who. There is an underneath defender, often the safety or outside LB who is supposed to cover the flat, and Wagner, the MLB is supposed to cover the seam. Or so he believes because that's standard. And also he pointed out a play last week where the TE wasn't covered, Reaves covered the flat and pointed to Wagner as to why didn't he cover the seam? But in short Wagner multiple times doubles up with the safety and covers the flat, leaving the TE wide open.
D. Both safeties are struggiling. Quan has a lot on his plate so his job isn't easy.
E. The corners seems to favor outside leverage coverage, which makes this team vulnerable to routes inside the numbers
F. When Armstrong was out, they played a bunch 3-4, and looked better doing that especially against the run, with Luvu playing edge at times and MaGee playing LB -- but that also makes them vulnerable to 11 personnel. They had Newton play some edge when Armstrong got hurt.
G. Jacob Martin has been low key playing well
