The #Redskins needed an upgrade pressure department. Hatcher can deliver had more division sacks last year (8) than Rak has in his career.
 
Sacks aren't just an individual stat McD5. They are highly dependent in the quality of the entire line. He's a good player for sure, but I'd be a lot more excited if he were 26 vs. 31.

No question about it. But that appears to be a big upgrade.
 
No argument from me. And any pressure we can provide that comes from someone other than Kerrigan and Orakpo will only help their production.
 
We're beefing up the lines. We're getting more physical. This is big imho.
 
If anyone has watched a lot of Bengals games, they are extremely physical. They remind me of the old Pittsburgh defenses of the last ten years.

All credit for that goes to Zimmer. But Gruden watched it for three years. He knows what wins.

We've signed a lot of very big beasts. Some won't work--due to a lack of skill.

But they will be coached up, and they will beat the hell out of people.

We're going to be a physical team. Opposing teams are going to be sore for days after they play us. We aren't going to be pushed around.

Never did like the finesse approach Shanahan took. OL and DL drafted and signed were undersized and we got handled regularly at the LOS by the Giants and other strong fronts like SF and KC.

Also, Jason Hatcher started exactly one game in his first five seasons. That tells me he's probably got more left than most 31-year-olds.

The Redskins are signing a lot of players for medium money in free agency: Tracy Porter, Andre Roberts, Shawn Lavao, and Bruce Campbell. They also re-signed DeAngelo Hall, Perry Riley, and Santana Moss.

This is a smarter strategy overall than spending huge money on a few players (Adam Archuleta, anyone?), but most of the signings are hard to get excited about. Hatcher is the exception.
