Burner's Burning Questions: Offseason Edition, Free Agency 2014

Hmm...in 2013 he had season ending microfracture surgery? Another injured Free Agent in the hopes he can return to pro-bowl form?

I guess if the price is right...

Yeah, no idea if he's heathy. He was a first round pick if I recall correctly.

This defense was porous in 2013 and we have still not added one new player that is expected to have an impact on that side of the ball.

Some calibrations must be off when frugal teams like Pittsburgh and Cleveland are beating us out for mid-tier backers and safeties.

It does seem as if the Redskins misgauged the market and prevailing prices.

Corey Graham leaves Redskins Park to sign with Buffalo?

We aren't going to be able to get starters for $2M a year when they are 27/28/29 and in demand.

lot of time to go yet...but I have to admit I was thinking the same thing earlier today. Skins management has been telling anyone willing to listen for a while now that part of the team's problem/poor record was the cash-strapped constraint of the cap hit. well...they have a ton of money....and are..at least to this point...not doing a very good job IMO. I don't care how they manage it, to be honest, but they ned to find SOME top-tier talent for this team. well, and again, it's only been a scant 2 days, they aint making it happen. If they tack and start making excuses about "we're being responsible...managing the budget.....being smart about it".....I hope fan reactions are along the lines of "Ok. cool. I gotcha. See ya in 215 cuz I aint watching the same 3-13/6-10 Redskin crap for yet another season. Go sell your lies to someone else."

but, as noted, there's a lot of time to go out there and actually find...I don't know...a RT, a safety, a CB...etc....etc.

Good players do sign with teams they believe are on the up & up. Is this a tacit statement on what's going around the league about the credibility of this franchise, this owner, this FO, this coaching staff and this roster? hope not.

stay calm. we'll get through this. good things are around the corner. I keep telling myself this.

but there's always this nagging "same ole Redskins" thought. frankly, it's been too long since this franchise appeared to have it's you know what together.

Revis will have a great year not because he is in NE but because he is playing for a contract in 2015 :)

Redskins agreed to terms with Tracy Porter. Finally, some secondary help.

How Washington Redskins lost out on Corey Graham - ESPN

“I’m meeting with the coaches and doing everything in Washington. And then my agent called me – it’s weird, because I was in a film session with the coaches in Washington. And then someone comes in and says, 'Your agent wants you to call him like right now.’ In the middle of the film session. So I go call my agent and he tells me about the situation with Buffalo, that they’re very serious and everything. It really came down to that. They got to talking and they did their thing, whatever they did. And then my agent calls me and I’m in my hotel room now getting ready to go to dinner with Washington. And he calls me and tells me about the deal and how everything’s going down.”

And then the Redskins lost out on a player they hoped could help them in the slot and on special teams.

I sure as hell hope it wasn't someone in the Redskins organization who told him he had to call his agent.

Redskins also interested in Akeem Jordan. With Bruce Campbell and possibly prince Akeem, the quote fest will never end!!

Andrew Hawkins not expected to return to the Bengals, if expect a lot of interest from Gruden.

I know, right?

Though the way the story sounds that's exactly what happened.

I don't know anything about the guy, but sucks to not even get a shot at him if the FO invited him down for meetings...

Pretty sure they have to. If not, would be messed up if they didn't! What if a family member was hurt?

Yeah, the problem is with the agent. Buffalo made a deal and the agent felt it necessary to interrupt the meeting.

I don't blame the skins - like you said, what if it was a family member being hurt or something?

Maybe it was a ridiculous deal? still seems kind of rude. I guess he gets a pass if it was a good deal and they told the agent now or never...

Guess it's part of the business. If it wasn't a now or never deal I would have still gone to dinner and seen what the Redskins would offer, but I guess that's just the type of person I am.

If his agent knows buffalo is his dream job, and Corey found out after signing with Washington that buffalo had an offer on the table? Bye bye Mr. Agent, lol.

I really like the Porter signing. Is it official now? I had seen a tweet rumor, but have been burned recently on those so I held off saying anything. If true, I think Porter will bring some needed talent to the CB position. His health is the biggest concern for me though, I think he had some issues with seizures at one time that caused him to miss games.

So Buffalo invaded our time with him to offer him a contract?

Perfectly legal but a bitch ass move to do it while he was with us.

No, they contacted his agent.

Most sources are running with it, I think it's legit.

If true, Porter would be a good signing (depending on the money, obviously.)

Not sure why Spencer would be of interest to the Skins. He plays the same position in the 3-4 as Kerrigan and is older. Hatcher really broke out for the Boys last year but the consensus here in Dallas is that it was due to the move to the 4-3 the team made and not because Hatcher suddenly improved so much. If that's the case, I'm not sure why a team that seems committed to staying with the 3-4 would look at him. He was ordinary in the Dallas 3-4.
