Burner's Burning Questions: Offseason Edition, Free Agency 2014

Oakland isnt exactly the best place to motivate yourself.

Id rather see what he can do and see if he can motivate himself before just dismissing him like I know any better.

Guys on his third team in four years.

He's a body.

The GM in Carolina is pretty sharp. Maybe we can develop Campbell as a project but the odds are a bit long I am guessing based on Gross' retirement and the need for tackle depth there with the Panthers.

If he can play I am surprised they let him go.

Which makes him an ideal candidate for the typical Washington Redskins FA approach !

As long as we don't repeat 2002 when we brought in Trung Canidate, Reidel Anthony, Danny Wuerffel, Chad Deering, etc and tried to win with them.

Oh I'm not questioning the move, Mike. I assume the people who get paid to bring in players don't expect him to be more than he is, which is a body to fill a spot.

If he turns out to be more than that, great. But I don't think that's the expectation.

At least I hope not.

No, I would expect we didn't, say, sign Garcon to be a warm body. We didn't draft Griffin to be a place-holder. We didnt re-sign Orakpo to compete for a backup position.

Expectations are different for different players. Campbell was not a splash signing. Thats all.

If you want to hope he suddenly blossoms into this awesome lineman, well, I hope that too.

Not expecting it, though. Thats all I'm saying.

EGADS! Graham agrees to a 4 yr/16 mil deal with the Bills. Rumor has it he was STILL at Redskins Park when this happened.

Per Keim:

Antonio Smith is still at Redskins Park. Does have a visit lined up with Tennessee tomorrow...Not sure Skins can get this 1 done. we'll see

Nobody wants to play for a 3-13 team that isn't willing to pay. :(

This defense was porous in 2013 and we have still not added one new player that is expected to have an impact on that side of the ball.

Some calibrations must be off when frugal teams like Pittsburgh and Cleveland are beating us out for mid-tier backers and safeties.

It does seem as if the Redskins misgauged the market and prevailing prices.

Corey Graham leaves Redskins Park to sign with Buffalo?

We aren't going to be able to get starters for $2M a year when they are 27/28/29 and in demand.

Yeah, well, ****'em. There will be a Redskin team on the field this fall. And we'll be pullin' for'em.

Pats sign Revis 1 yr 12 million per Schefter

Wow.

He'll be all universe next season, watch. That's how things work for the Pats.

True .

One thing I've never understood though, is the Pats never giving Brady a #1 receiver since Moss left. Looks like another offseason for them without doing that again.

Cowboys DL Anthony Spencer will visit the Redskins tomorrow.

FWIW: Daryl Tapp won't be returning to the #Redskins, according to his agent Fletcher Smith.

Hmm...in 2013 he had season ending microfracture surgery? Another injured Free Agent in the hopes he can return to pro-bowl form?

I guess if the price is right...

He's a beast when healthy.
