Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions, 2020

I think many of the "pundits" were excited by his time in the 40...which was ridiculous. Not sure how many actual football people have him as the #1.

But it keeps fluctuating with this class. I have seen Wirfs go from 3 to 1, I've seen Thomas drop from one back to 4 back up to #2 overall LT rating. I have seen Becton in the top 10 to an early 2nd rounder. And I have seen Willis rank from 4th to 1st.

It's kinda like the year we took Trent, everyone had Russell Okung going to us.

I agree it could be media, but for some reason I think it's more than just the pundits. I personally have Thomas as the top OT in the draft, and until mid way through the season I wanted us taking him if we ended up with a top 5 pick (ultimately we did). There was one point in November that we were tracking to have no. 3 overall and I had my heart set on Thomas.... Ultimately Chase Young has emerged as the consensus pick but Thomas has the good imho. I just hope Gettleman up in New York is arrogant enough to take Becton at the way he took Jones earlier than most expected last year.

Yeah, I have to wonder who the evaluators are. I bet you Eric DeCosta in Baltimore would not rank him there, but Lynch out in San Fran might because of the Zone system Kyle uses often in his offense.

Hell, I think half the evaluators in the NFL don't know as much as some of the guys on this site.

Yeah it all depends on the system.... and it says he polled 11.... a very VERY small poll considering most TEAMS have 11 different people evaluating talent.

I still think Becton is 1st round talent, along with Thomas, Willis, and Wirfs. Someone is going to get it right.

Put together a top 20 for another board, figured I could throw it up here to see what ya'll thought

A lot of people predict a slide, but I guarantee you Tua goes top 10. I think Jordan Love is the most over-hyped QB in this draft. I think he could slide all the way to the end of the 1st round.

Every year someone expected to go early starts to slide. Normally it is a QB. Who do you see as the most likely to slide?

The surprise slide i could see could be Okudah. I think we could see 3 QBs in the top 6 picks. If Detroit surprises and goes Simmons, and the Giants go Tackle, then Okudah could fall down to 8 or 10.

I agree with Boone about Tua, but not Love. There are 4 teams in the top 10 that 'need' a qb, and 2 more that could use their pick to get their long term guy.

NEED:
Cincy
Miami
LA Chargers
Carolina

Room for improvement:
Detroit
Jacksonville

Detroit could surprise people with a selection of a QB. Stafford had a bad back last year, and is due an ungodly amount of money over the last few years of his deal. I still dont think its impossible Detroit takes Tua with the idea of a redshirt type year, parting ways with Safford after next season saving $40mil +. If that doesnt happen, i imagine Tua goes 5 to Miami, so then you have Chargers and Panthers. Possible 2 more QBs go there.

I don't think Carolina drafts a QB at all (or at least not one of the top 5). They brought in Teddy Bridgewater for a reason. And they also have Will Grier sitting presumably behind him.

I saw a mock, I think it was Bucky Brooks, that had Simmons as the odd man out, slipping to 10th I think. But because so many tackles were taken, not because of a 4th QB.

In fact, I saw something today suggesting the love that was brewing for Jordan Love, has been tapering off.

I hate to say it, but I can see that happening (although i don't mind it because it means NYG passed on him, so as far away from the NFCEast that Simmons lands, the better.

Boone I don't know. Bridgewater is on a 3 year deal, with an easy out after year 2. If Tua somehow falls past Miami, this is another easy spot that can afford to redshirt him. I don't think Grier has it. I don't see them paying Bridgewater what they're going to pay him to be a bridge guy IF they believe the long term option is already on the roster. Instead, you just hold onto Cam for another year. Maybe I should have put them in the 2nd column stating there is room for upgrade, if the right guy is on the board when their pick comes up.

We’ll find out soon enough. Rumors about the Giants drafting QB could also create some havoc.

Thats the other thing.... I have heard ZERO about Detroit drafing a QB other than fan speculation. I think the Giants are just throwing that out there to see if someone gets desperate and wants to jump Miami. Gettleman used to be opposed to trading down but now it's being floated that he's shopping the pick... then rumors he's considering a QB, its all posturing.

How about...…..Pothead Crybaby, Chris Thompson, and our compensatory 4th (142), to Jacksonville, for their 2nd rounder (42)

Thompson was released awhile ago I believe.
Maybe they don't know yet?

Oh well, I'm just trying to find a way into the 2nd round for free. :)
Doubt Pothead can get us there by himself. would love to be wrong.
But when does THAT ever happen?
