Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions, 2020

If he’s still there in the 4th I could learn to live with the Missouri TE Okwuegbunam.

We need a few players with hard to pronounce names anyway.

What intrigues me is what if the Redskins don't get anywhere near a reasonable offer for either guy? I'm with ya on the "don' let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya" sentiment Boone but as years pass I'm more and more of a "tough shit, you're under contract to THIS team, so shut up and play" sentiment. So sick of giving crybabies what they want, it only encourages the next whiner to do the same until he gets released or traded. Meanwhile in the real world we deal with a-hole bosses and co-workers on a daily basis and just suck it up. It's called being professional!

I feel the same way. But I also think there’s power in sending the message ‘if you don’t want to be here, we don’t want you to be here’.
Yeah, the Patriots just quietly get them out the door for another 5th round pick they eventually work into a late 2nd round because they have like 15 draft picks every year.

The chances that the Cheatriots ever find another great QB, willing to play for less money, for years, just so the team can benefit, are slim to none.

Welcome back to earth.

Yes, for a fifth rounder. We need to trust the process and let the new regime do their jobs.

We strongly disagree. They are the experts. They know a lot more than us. Getting him for a fifth and at a young age is a true bargain.

He is on a rookie contract, he has starting experience, and he knows Turner's offense.

We were going to draft a QB late...this is a no brainer.

Haskins character will be on display for all to see right now...it'll be interesting to see how he reacts.

And I think this has less to do with his inability as much as a need for a backup QB. This trade is far better than drafting a QB with that pick.

Among many other issues with the trade, I think Haskins needs better competition than this.
Maybe he's ok as a 2nd string IF we had a decent, proven #1.
BUT...there are still major questions about Haskins, and if his performance falls short, I don't think we can win with Allen.
We need fiercer competition than that.

Points made. I have a mock to quickly re-do and promised to have it posted here today.

I really hope this is the only year Ron looks to the panthers for redskin help. Best to get it out of his system now imo

This year's 5th ?
If it's this year's 5th, there's no way I am on board.
This sets us back in more ways than one, not moves us forward.
That is a bad take imho. Of course a 6th round pick is valuable. But Kyle Allen looked pretty damn good in the Panthers offense - I watch a lot of their games as a local. The kid can play and if you do t think he’ll press Haskins, especially given he l owns the O - I think you’re wrong. He’s young, cheap, talented? And ready if we need him. This is a home run move.
