For the 1st game I attended since he came to the Redskins' Scot was not on the sidelines after a game.
 
I think we're missing the point.

The front office structure is the same as it was when Scot was hired.

Jay had control of the coaching staff and that continues.

Scot was given control of the roster, including FA and the draft - that role continues.

Bruce was in charge of the entire football operation and he still has that role.

What's changed? Nothing!

So, what's the problem? Muzzling Scot at the combine? That is actually a good thing - he talks too much. Like revealing his wish to draft the Bama center last year. Word is that the Colts got wind of it and made that move. Oops.

Keep him away from the media until after the draft - that would be a good thing.

Everything else is overblown and media/pundit/fan speculation.
 
Other teams do this, it's not like it's something innovated across the league nor does it imply a lack of faith in the FO, just good business. Makes sense not to tip your hand especially where it concerns players who you might trade or cut. Tip your hand too soon and everybody knows it'll be a cut and drop his trade value. Jones might fit this category. Just an example, not to imply this is their plan.

Talk about Fake News......This is why no fan should put any weight on the Cousins situation.

No one outside the Park knows anything. They're just throwing crap against the wall right now.
 
It's not fake. Scot just confirmed by Brian McNally that he was told to stay home.

Death was on the 6th and funeral was the 13th.

I'm going to stay up for a bit and see if there will be any other updates. We will probably get more updates on Thursday.

I dunno... having your GM whose expertise is the draft not go to the Combine seems pretty big. It may be nothing, but the first time I'm thinking I smell a lot of smoke.

Especially since his grandmother passed away in early Feb. and buried on or around the 13th of Feb. Kind of late to be making arrangements.

The team is doing a piss poor job of handling this situation. If it's a drinking problem, just say so and what team is doing to help him.
 
I can see the logic, brother, but we should at least allow for the possibility it's more complicated than that. Plus, part of me is really okay with the Redskins actually keeping something sensitive in-house for a change. Recognizing, of course, that if the Cooley thing WAS intentionally leaked, all that goes out the window and the front office is left with an entire Sunday brunch worth of omelets on their face.

The biggest problem I see in way we have handled this is the impact it will have on our FA's and those that may have considered coming here.

Players want some stability. Right now I am sure many are wondering what is going on in Ashburn.

Somebody is planting SOME information about Cousins and the Redskins talking and what is being spun behind the scenes from at least ONE perspective in the building.
 
Also read the $20 million was an offer early in off-season. So, this may not be the latest or current offer. It's a $4 million increase from last off-season offer.

Hopefully will get this worked out.

Didn't know that Allen knew McCloughan's family from his Raider days.

Like everyone else we bring in, I thought Allen knew Scot through his Tampa connections :)
 
I'm spitballin a bit here...... While some say that the death of his Grandmother is a shaky explanation at best for his absence, I'm not completely sure. It's 18 days since she was put to rest.... barely over two weeks. Think about this.... How many 100 year old people do you think had their affairs in order with a proper will and such ? I'd say it's a 50 / 50 chance. Did she own a home ? Having to deal with a probate situation can be messy and time consuming. The possibility of having to clean out a home that has of decades personal belongings can be very time consuming, unless you plan on rolling up a dumpster, and trashing everything. A death in the family can be very complicated some times, and that's not even considering the emotional impact. My neighbor just passed a few months back. His affairs were in good order, with a proper will and no mortgage on his house. It took almost 8 weeks for his sister, who was named and given full control in the will to get everything squared away. Is Scott the only family member capable of dealing with these matters ?

That being said, yes this is a normally critical time for him to be with the team, and there's a lot of question marks here nobody can answer, but there could be a big ol monkey wrench jamming up the gears. I agree, it doesn't look good, but more often then not, there's quite a bit more involved then a fans "readers digest" version. Did the powers that be decide it would be better to have this resolved now, and not let it drag out and interfere with the draft, when they need Scott to do his wheeling and dealing. It's not like he cant use the reports from his staff to see who he wants to bring in for a visit. Seeing the guy on the field is important, but Scott gets a feel for a player sitting behind the desk, and talking to the guy for an extended period of time from everything I've read.

Just not sure we can go with Akums Razor here.
 
Does it have to be his grandmother's death that this is about ?
Who's to say it's not someone else close who died, and wouldn't he have the right to privacy, regarding who the family member is.
