Birth of a Beer...

I got so much beer making stuff for Christmas. Can't wait to make my next batch

Hoppy beers are the only beers for me. I love them so much. Perhaps its IPAs association with the sea that attracts me, being a marine engineer. :geek:

EDIT: Aww, no :geek: smiley anymor?

I lay claim to the Wheaty beers. All of them except the fruited ones, nasty! I'm also a sucker for a good Belgium beer, love Delirium Tremens.

drinking beer in settings it's appropriate for and with foods that go with it can greatly change how you feel about a certain style.

Wheaty beers are probably my least favorite, so you can have those too. ALL THE HOPS.

You say that like there are settings where it might not be appropriate...

this book i'm reading seems to suggest (i haven't read a whole lot into this section, just skimmed it) that blue cheese goes along really well with a quality IPA

I hate blue cheese, but I'll give that a try. I love IPAs with chili and barbecue, personally. :)

This is true, but you have to get a NICE blue cheese. Don't bother with that cheap crap that is crumbled in the grocery store. If you get an American bleu, get Maytag. A gorgonzola from France or Italy would be even better...

There's actually a show (sorry - can't remember the name of it or the network it's on) where guys go into restaurants, see what the people are eating, and then match a unique beer that pairs best with the meal.

I've got a crisis
Keg is about empty and I haven't made any more :(

Get on the stick, son. Seriously.

I don't remember the last time I had less than 3 cases in the house at any given time.

5 gallons of mead, 5 gallons of Imperial Stout, 5 gallons of Winter Warmer in the closet, and almost brewed a lager today :)

Mead has to sit. I'll be about a year old when we have our next Tailgate :)
