2010: Gomes has been a turnover machine during his NU career...has intercepted seven passes in 23 career games, and has also caused five fumbles. In 2010, Gomes has caused two fumbles and has three interceptions. He picked off an Idaho pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown, added his second pick against Missouri, and then his third pick on Colorado’s first drive of the second half. He also had a 19-yard fumble return against the Buffs. Gomes ranks second on the team with 93 tackles, including a career-high 12 stops at Kansas State and double-figure tackle totals against Texas and Oklahoma State. He has four tackles for loss. He was an honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection...2009: Played in 13 games, including six starts in the final nine games. As a freshman, Gomes recorded 34 tackles, four interceptions, seven breakups and four tackles for loss, helping the Rams to a national championship.

Gomes seems like a reach, but he may have really caught their eye, or they got word some other team was hot on him.

My concern is, zero offensive line picks in this draft. That just blows my mind.

I'd be shocked if that continues, but I agree. I would have thought for sure we would have taken at least one by now.

They must see something on the current roster, kinda like your theory with Rex being the Franchise QB. Unless there is something out there we don't know about.

Vertical: 36. Broad: 9-9. Hand: 8 7/8.
Projected Round (2011): 3-5.
3/11/11: Niles Paul had a miserable Combine 40, so his 4.42 really helps. He also improved his vertical from 34.5 to 36 inches.
 
Another NE player? Niles Paul, WR. Did we just not scout any school other than NE?

We are now finally in agreement. I would have liked to have seen at least one OL by now.
 
Like what I read here:

Niles Paul let it be known from his first meeting with NFL personnel that calling him just a "receiver" would shortchange what he potentially could bring to a team.

Paul told everybody at the Senior Bowl in January that he would catch passes, return kicks, cover kicks or block on special teams.

Anything. Everything.

"They asked me what I do," Paul said, "and I said I do whatever you put me at."

Mel seems to like him quite a bit. Said he did not have a QB to get him the ball, that was why his numbers were down this year. Said he should start contributing on ST, and can develop to be a pretty good WR.
 
Kiper seems to like the Paul pick. Basically said guy has a lot of native talent (in addition to being a great returns guy), but that Nebraska didn't have the QB to get him the ball last year.

Each pick so far has strong character and/or leadership skills. All are willing to put in the effort. None have the "extra-curricular" concerns. I think that is another plus for each player. No pouting like a DMc5 or a turd like AH.
