Damn, now I feel like one of them douchey newbies who started a new thread for self promotion; guess I should have read this one first but assumed it was just for one person. Sorry for being on BGO for 5 minutes and spamming the board! Feel free to close that one and I'll just intro myself here.
I was known as ZoEd back in the old days, in my old hometown. But things changed, the town grew and grew and the culture became hostile so I started going home less and less and choosing which bars to go into and who I'd talk to; home began to feel foreign and I began second guessing why I lived there in the first place.
Then one day I opened a bar to hoping folks could come in and have a drink without attacking folks for drinking beer just because they preferred wine and those high class scotchs that they feel makes them more intelligent than the beer drinkers. I knew it was risky but I through caution to the wind, and just like I feared the usual suspects showed up riding high on their horses and pushed open the doors, noses high in the air and immediately jumped on the beer drinkers using their big words and superior points of view while dismissing everything the beer guys had to say. I'd had enough!
This was my bar dammit! I opened it and I want everyone to get along! My temper began to rise, my patience wearing thin and I finally just started letting the snooty wine drinkers have it! First the deputy came riding in and as usual he jumped in on the beer drinkers right along side the others, the Sheriff rolled in, made tried to calm things down but his condescending tone did nothing but escalate the situation and finally I got to the point where I no longer gave a crap about the bar, the street or the entire damn town! I was over it! They can have their town and all of the pompous attitudes that come with it. So I packed my stuff and moved out, looking for a new town to call my home.
I'd heard about a quaint little place where soda, beer, wine and even nondrinkers get a long; so I struck out on my own in search of this mythical place, no regrets, no fear, no reason to stay, even though I had been there for several years and had many fond memories. No looking back.
I found this town, see some familiar faces and I hope to meet the new ones. I left ZoEd behind, even though I carry with me the same POV's and sarcastic opinions, but in this town I'm Dazed&Confused, for more reasons that I'd like to admit. Cheers! Can't wait to get settled down.
