Whisky lineup for tomorrow. Two new ones to try. Jeffersons Presidential 25 and Four Roses single barrel 125th anniversary.

edit-- have not had a drink yet but can't get it to post right side up. Even went into edit and created a new one upside down and it still post wrong. Weird.

Ok four roses single barrel 125 the was a good bourbon and will be in the rotation but not at the top. The Jeff 25 was a non complex bourbon but might be the smoothest bourbon I've ever had. The finish was jr and again beT them all. Amazing really.

So I have been crazy busy at work and with other stuff, but I have tried the Willett Rye. When I first opened it and poured, it smelled medicinal to me. The immediate taste was similar, so I let it sit out for awhile as HOF suggested. Later, it was much improved in my book. It tasted hot at first, with some sweetness in there, which surprised me in a rye whiskey. Definite rye burn at the back end. I had some more tonight and it really is quite complex, but I could see how this would not be the whiskey for just anyone. This will be in my growing rotation!
 
Just increased my Stagg Jr. stock by 6, bought another case. Just can't justify not buying it, lol. It's just so damn tasty!

At a bachelor party at a hunting camp in Texas. Shot guns all day, breaking out the bottle of Jr. I brought soon. :)

When I drank, I never liked anything over 110 proof, because it typically all tasted like hairspray and ruined it. I hear everyone go on and on about Stagg Jr, then I see it's 134 proof and it confuses me. 134 proof and tastes good just doesn't compute in my brain, is it really possible?

It is an aggressive bourbon. You probably wouldn't like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a bourbon of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory, like CC.

I don't drink. Also, connoisseurs are alcoholics that give themselves a fancy name, their opinion means as much as that of a movie critic to me. It either tastes good or it doesn't. Being a snob doesn't change the flavor. It's like the wine snobs who drink a $400 bottle of wine they swear is wonderful, then you take a sip and it tastes like vinegar. Being sophisticated has nothing to do with it.

I don't know you, so I don't know if you're being snarky or a jerk. If you're being snarky, smilies are your friend (and kudos, because that response would be amazingly hilarious). If you're being a condescending ass.....eat me :laugh:

Lighten up! I'm joking with you! That's a quote from Stone Brewery about one of their beers, just swapped "bourbon" for "ale".

You're right, you don't know me. But trust me, I am joking with you.

No need to call people out in here and insinuate that those of us who like to call ourselves connoisseurs of various spirits are alcoholics. :) Having grown up a hop, skip and a jump away from Napa Valley, I wear my wine snobbery very proudly on my sleeve. In fact, I won't shut up about it. In fact, I'm cheersing my evening's second glass of sauvignon blanc to you, buddy!

Going forward, it might be best to always just give a poster in our community that you might not know well the benefit of the doubt that they're joking or being a smart ass. Especially if they go by the screenname "Love The Beer." :D

I knew I liked you. Next time you're in VA, we need to get you over to the Valley to experience our burgeoning wines. You'd love it, trust me.

Yeah, yeah.....I know its actually Stone Brewing Co. in Escondido. I've been there. I was just on my 3rd bourbon when I quickly wrote that. Hahaha!! And no, I"m not offended! I would not, and do not, take it wrong. You are correct.
 
I was there almost 2 years ago visiting a friend in San Diego. I told her I wanted to go and we spent a loooooooong day there drinking and feasting and drinking! I tried at least a sample of every beer they had on tap except for the ones I had already tried. It was awesome!
