Picked up a little more Stagg Jr. for the collection - as well as some Weller 107 Antique that Bob recommended. It was only $24, so I can't complain! Please ignore my messy trunk - Houston closed all their recycling centers, so I have recycling in there I have to find a place for. Lol.

That's a Weller I heard was good for the money. NICE score on the JR!! Are those boxes packed nice, or glass clankers??

Your area right now has more access to great bourbon than Kentucky! You need to pay better attention next year when the BTAC comes out!
 
Bob, have you had the Colonel E.H. Taylor's Small Batch? Its only 100 proof, but I've seen some good reviews.
 
I've had it and I'm not a fan. There is an EH Taylor Barrel Proof I'd like to try.

Weller Antique 107 review:

It's nowhere near as good as the Stagg Jr., but it's pretty damn good for $24! I wouldn't pay $70 for this, but I could drink this as an "every day" bourbon, especially at that price.

Very smooth first taste, but only 107 proof, so that's expected. It's not as complex as the Jr. either, but it's pretty tasty.

You'll find that barrel proof uncut unfiltered Whisky will spoil you. You will not get as rich a taste from a cut Whisky.

Yeah, that's what I'm finding. After a few minutes, the second tasting is pretty bland. Yeah, the barrel proof, uncut/unfiltered bourbons are amazing.

Nice! I registered for a nice whisky set, hopefully someone gets it for us. Stagg Jr. deserves to be in crystal! :)
 
I scored the Stagg Jr. Can't wait to try it but it may have to wait until Sunday.

I found it at two places in DC. Press Liquors and Washington Wine and Liquor. Press had 2 or 3 bottles that I saw. I got the last bottle at Washington Wine and Liquor.
 
Ok what's your bourbon line up for Super Bowl Sunday???

On tap for me.

Four Roses 125th Edition (Have not tried this years before) 110 Proof
Parkers Heritage Promise of Hope (New one too) 96 Proof
Willets Very Rare Rye Whisky (another New one) 110 Proof
Stagg Jr (of Course) 134.4 Proof
Redbreast Cask Strength Irish Whisky (an old time favorite) 115.4 Proof

Doubt I see the end of the game!
 
I don't think any of us could compete with that lineup! Maybe Lanky.
 
It's not about levels it's about bourbon! Try a ton and develop your palate as to what you like and don't. Watch and read reviews they are helpful and over time you will find certain reviewers that match what you taste and you'll trust those more. Expensive isn't always good. I still say Jr is one of the best bourbons I've ever tasted at any price point.

If any of you guys ever make it out to a game come see me I always have a variety to drink!
