I am sure Bill(and Allen) will be given plenty of opportunity in camp but he needs to vastly improved passpro and show off receiving skills to earn more play time. If he can't Ford could play a larger role than fans expect.

Ford is a real good back, probably the most well rounded on the roster. I would not be in the least bit shocked if he was RB1 by mid season.

To be honest, I’m not sure what word I’d use, maybe channel my inner Ron Rivera with the “interesting” vs “important” but the fact it looks like the guy could have gotten injured enough to not participate in non-contact drills while dodging trash cans and traffic cones is at least something. Interesting? Important? Concerning? Notable?

Especially since they seem to want him to be on the field more and Quinn openly said this week he needs work in pass protection.

I did find the toss in “and kick returns” interesting.

But the fact he can’t work on blitz pickups and route running in non contact drills because it appears as though he got tackled by a traffic cone is at least notable if not concerning.

No concern. I don’t think he does a whole lot in the grand scheme for our offense until he becomes a more well rounded back - which again, I think he can develop into.

But if he’s not ready for that yet, him being out isn’t much of a concern to me.

For real though: I don’t disagree with you, but as there are a ton of fans who seem to think he’s going to be our starter, I can see why it’s freaking them out. Me, I think it’s more likely he actually gets less touches than last year, not more, as they prioritize more well-rounded players being on the field (which describes every other RB on the roster)

He was pulled off the practice field by a trainer right before he was about to jump into a drill. So I assume whatever tracking tech they’re using for players (some teams are even able to track individual muscle group exertion) didn’t like something going on with JCM and they just pulled him out before he could fully participate
 
 
Deep post safety Is what we've been talking about. Man do I wish we could have drafted one with a second rounder. If we had I think it would have reduced the CB concern as well

And it doesn't sound like the WR's were looking great as they were getting locked down without Terry and WIllims

I think we all wish that. Unfortunately the deep post safety is one of the harder positions to project from college to NFL.
 
It's funny. Safety is almost never picked in the first round of the draft because it's always been considered one of the least important/easiest positions to fill. That POV might be changing due to the way we think about multiple defenses and the safety as a Swiss Army knife instead of last line of defense.
 
To KDawg's draft posts about Styles, on the top of the podcast Logan and Bram are discussing how the staff have brought in rugby coaches to work on tackling. Looks like they were on the same page as you.

I think Styles will be a stud, hard thing with him with tackling I gather is his height, he has to bend more. Shorter LBs have lower centers of gravity and it turn at times balance. But he clearly regardless got the job done and his length, especially his arms were fun to to watch in play as to making sideline to sideline tackles.

I've heard reporters and Peters himself in a recent podcast reference how Styles is already one of the hardest workers on the team.

Love to hear that Styles is a worker. It so easily can go the other way. Sometimes things come so easy for these athletic freaks that they get lazy.

I just thought KDawg deserved a shout out for pushing the rugby thought. Mind you, the rugby coaches are being brought in is not just about Styles. They're there to work with everyone. I like it. Adding another tool to the kit can be nothing but good.

Yeah KDawg has mentioned rugby and not just with Styles. The other dude who often talks about Rugby from time to time to football is Logan Paulsen.

I've been to the UK-Ireland multiple times but in my travels could never dive into Rugby, especially in SW Ireland, the sport was big time there.
