2025 Commanders Transactions Thread

Well that takes care of the last big roster need other than getting Terry's deal done.

I admit Clowney was my top pick but thrilled to have a legit edge.

Von Miller?
I didn't know Rascals were allowed on the field of play?
Are our trainers part of the Visiting Angels staff?

I was leaning towards Clowney too, but probably with more of an eye as a starter than a strict pass specialist. As a one-trick pony, Von Miller is probably superior.

Peters sure does love his one-year contracts.

I believe that was SIPs take on Miller as well, superior production strictly as a specialist.

Miller, Wagner, Lattimore, and Quinn might all help attract Clowney too. I wouldn’t rule him out just yet.

Why do you guys want Clowney?
Dude has gotten more mileage out of one tackle in college than any player in football history.
He’s a JAG.

He’s very good at setting the edge against the run, which we’ve sucked at for a generation. He just never blossomed into the pass rushing threat he was billed as, so people see him as being an empty name. But he’s actually a very accomplished run defender who has stayed relatively healthy throughout his career, it’s why he keeps getting signed

Damn I ❤️❤️❤️ that uniform!!

Shawn Springs looked bigger

Von Miller is probably closer to 230 now in his older speed rushing part time years, and Springs in his later years was probably closer to 210+. So not as far off as you’d think

Percy Butler signed to a 1 year extension

By the way Von addressed the number 24 in his presser today.

He said he’s only worn 2 numbers since entering the league and both are currently taken… (on a side note, i believe they’re 58 and 40 and neither are worn by premium guys, kind of a cool sentiment that Miller doesn’t come in and just take a number away from a young player)

He said he wore 24 ONE TIME in college as a tribute to a friend of his who had an accident and ultimately was a paraplegic, and that the number still is important to him. Also pointed out how much of a fan of Kobe Bryant he is, as well as Champ Bailey who wore it here previously.

That move intrigues me. They signed so many safeties it felt like Butler was at best a bubble player.

Yeah and he’s entering the final year of his rookie deal so it’s not like he’s a 1 year short term vet kind of signing.

It doesn’t guarantee he’s ‘safe’ but it sure makes you wonder.

Edit:

Looking at his cap number he’s on the books for $3.4m. Not exactly bank breaking, but it is a premium for a Special Teams guy, 3rd / 4th safety on the roster. Wonder if they move some money around to lower that with an extension having another year under contract. I don’t know… maybe to free up a couple bucks? (I’m kidding!… or am I?)

Butler is a bubble player.

He has never shown he can play in the regular defense and ST unless you are Reaves good is not worth $3M plus.
