2025 Commanders Transactions Thread

I just don't think the Gallup signing makes sense.

Makes perfect sense to me, Quinn knows what he brings to the locker room, meeting rooms, and culture—he’s got the cheapest contract possible, so he’s an easy cut if he’s beat out—and he makes great, professional competition for young guys like McCaffrey and draft pick/UDFA’s.

You know how he works, you know you don’t need to teach him how you want your players to practice, and you know he’s a surpassable obstacle for a good enough young player.

Perfect vet min signing imo.

Deiter is not the answer to any question re the OL.

If Tyler gets dinged Washington likely can find a better player off the street.

I honestly think you only bring back a guy like Deiter because he knows the offense and it allows you to function during minicamps and potentially OTA’s if guys are injured or anything else. Just a housekeeping and practical move to have him for now when you may need bodies and don’t want to spend valuable springtime film/practice coaching minutes on every unit of the OL at once

It feels like they are going to look to add a mid round OT for depth and hope as a future starter or swing.

I see them adding another C also but could still come in FA because the draft is pretty void at C. That is unless they are comfortable with Herbig but he does not have a lot of experience there. We are going to have a heck of a battle for the G spots!

We've started to see a trend of moving guys who didn't play C in college to C in the pros - from this past draft, Graham Barton and Cooper Beebe are a couple examples. This draft has a lot of guards, including solid ones that should be available in Day 3. Maybe some of them can also play C.

You're right though. The void with our OL currently is younger guys with upside on rookie contracts. The only guy that currently fits this bill is Coleman. We need to add at least one guy to this pool, ideally two. Biadasz is currently the 6th highest paid center and he deserves it but paying a center may be a luxury we can't afford in a couple years once Jayden is due for his rookie extension - so may as well start developing a guy to take over for him either this year or next year

Knowing how the draft works, the QBs are going to run up to the top. Sanders at the end of the 1rst is ridiculous.

New England is the only 100% non QB drafting team. I get that the QBs last year were better prospects, but nobody had Penix and Nix going so high.

Tenn, Clev, NYG are all very QB needy teams.

Jax, Las Vegas, NYJ aren't far off of the Falcons last season, so why not draft a QB.

I can definitely see Clev take Carter because they're so poorly run, but they need a QB. We all know how that goes, huh?

Sanders and Ward are the only two that probably should go in the first, but it wouldn't shock me to see Dart or Milroe or even Howard could sneak in there.

The counter point to that is this feels a lot like the 2022 draft, where Pickett was the first QB off the board at 20 to the Steelers.

I’d argue there is probably one actual good QB. I agree it’s likely Sanders goes higher than he should.

I do think there might be a team who wants to trade into the bottom of the 1st to pick up a QB and get the 5th year option.

We already have one receiver on vet. minimum, I don't think we can afford a second without crippling the team.

Camp arm?

I think so, but it does make you wonder about Hartman.

They had Driskel last year, and to this point he hasn't been retained. A guy like Josh Johnson who is a clearly a back up at this stage in his career, but not exactly a throw away player.... Mariota is locked in at no. 2,. the money tells us that, so it's Harman vs Johnson for the 3rd spot, and I'd imagine Hartman more likely is 'safe' on the PS between the two of them.

The problem with Hartman is he doesn’t have an NFL arm. Josh Johnson does. And is athletic.

So it makes sense to have somebody on the roster with more physical talent than Hartman. We’ll see how it plays out. They could bump Hartman to the PS again.

Neither Hartman nor Johnson are very good. I wouldn't be shocked if they take a late round QB to be a QB3 and hope he can transition to a QB2 in the future

I would say not because they only have 5 picks. If they accumulate more picks then I could see it.

What happened with that other QB who was in the room last year? I don’t remember who it was honestly.

If we are down to our 3rd QB, we have bigger problems. I’d rather have Jayden’s best friend and work partner that helps the locker room, and is smart as hell in the position group meetings.
