I think that's possible, too. Crazy that they grabbed that many corners. I mean the more the merrier, but now they have to cut six players. You have to doubt they're planning to keep all those defensive backs so I don't know what they were thinking.
 
Nice. Their patience paid off. Hopefully, they get a good price. Three firsts would be nice. (Hopefully, it's better than a sixth)
 
Could we have expected much better?
 
I would have figured a 6 straight up no need to add a 7th if the rumor is true that many teams were interested. Hell I would have taken a 7th for him with us giving up no draft picks

Fair question for sure. I guess I'm with Tom - I was okay with it until I saw we had to give the Saints him AND a 7th. That seems a little much to me.
 
Ooh. I like that. He had an impact his last season in Dallas and last season in Houston. And he is a very good physical blocker and ST guy as well.
 
I think my main frustration will be that I have a different assessment of our needs at tackle than the front office. I viewed it as a top priority. They didn't seem to. They seemed to think addressing it with Coleman and Lucas to be sufficient. I was hoping that we would get a clear cut upgrade at left tackle. Maybe that's Coleman, but he also was hurt for the entire preseason and we never got to see him take live snaps which in my mind reinforced the idea that we needed to get at least one more tackle. I also think Andy Wylie is closer to a net negative than a comfortable starter. His preseason penalties failed to encourage confidence either.

Chances are they know what they are doing, but while I concede you can't do everything in one offseason that is one area in which I wish they did more.
 
So how do we compare Noah Brown's production to Dotson's? I've heard people talk positively about him, but is he a steal and a player to be reckoned with or the best cut player available?
 
The way I look at it, he chose to sign with this team. So he wants to be here and do what the coaches want him to do. If the stories are true, Dotson didn’t really want to do that. So that gives him a leg up already. As for production, time will tell. But I don’t see him supplanting D. Brown or Zaccheus for a starting role. Maybe he plays that well that he will eventually, but I expect him to be a role player and a backup.

He only had 1 season as a WR starter at Ohio State, where he was a teammate with Terry McLaurin. A lot of folks were puzzled he came out when he did. Was projected to be a 5th rounder but didn't get drafted until the 7th by Dallas. Didn't do a ton his first 4 seasons there but hung around, had some injury issues. Played more ST than WR. Had a semi-breakout year in 2022 with 43 receptions for 555 yds and 3 TDs. Similar #'s in Houston in 2023. He's 28, 6' 2" and 225 lbs and has a rep for being pretty physical and for being able to mid to downfield threat. Has done a lot of blocking in his NFL career so that may be what made him attractive?

It was widely reported that they tried to trade back into the first round and OT was likely the target. Free agency was a bare cupboard.
 
I feel like Aiyuk to Washington is becoming very likely. He left practice today in street clothes after the 49ers said he was going to practice. The asking price is going to drop because at some point they'll just want to move on.
 
Another WR of ours ends up in Philly.


 
It's funny. Everyone says that Philly has one of the strongest wide receiver units in the league and Washington has one of the weakest and yet Philly keeps acquiring our players.
