2023 Washington Roster Moves

I can't imagine we're going to get something as good for Young.

oh god, could you imagtine facing him on Sunday

NE inquired, means Belichick offered a 5th thinking the ghost Al Davis took over GM duties in Washington.

There it is, Chase Young to the 49ers for a 3rd round pick.

I'm a little surprised we traded both, but I guess they weren't seeing enough of Chase to want to sign him to the bucks he may have wanted.

The 49ers have 3 picks in the 3rd round of the 2024 draft - #87, #98, and #100.

Yeah, I'm surprised, too. I thought one was probable. Both is surprising.

Not really upset about it though. The three for Young feels a little cheap, but maybe capwise it makes sense. The cost for resigning him might be one that strangles the team and this defense needed a shock to the system.

It may get worse before it gets better, but I am no fan of treading water. these 7-9 seasons get you nowhere and just hurt.

Now I am wondering who is advising Harris and Co. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who believes he can manage the player personnel side of a pro sports team.

It does feel cheap, but he hasn’t done much to warrant more than that. In the end, you are worth what someone pays you.

C'mon. I want a fifth for Curtis Samuel and the Browns to be the Browns and offer us a third for Brisset.

It's my guy in KC - our next GM ... lol. Yeah - no way Rivera and Mayhew are making these calls. It's Harris.

I like it and here's why:
  • A high 2nd for Sweat is very nice, keeping in mind we've gotten nothing for previous guys on expiring contracts
  • They wanted to ditch Young - addition by subtraction - and I'll bet it's for a lot of the same reasons most of us don't gush about the guy. If the rest of the league really believed his hype, they'd have gotten a late 1st round or 2nd rounder. Clearly no one was offering that. So you get what you can.
  • These are also message moves. Messaging to the fanbase that there are new decision-makers in town, and to the organization that we will make any move if we think it will improve our future prospects.
  • It's a signal that the new owners don't believe this coaching staff can turn it around and are working their notice.

I am sort of confused on why a team like the Vikings has not made a strong offer for Antonio Gibson. We know he has pass protection issues but he is a qb check down dream.

49er's seem like an odd trade partner here, did I miss something where someone on the defense got hurt last week, I thought their injury woes were on offense? They do have a ton of cap space so maybe this was a move where they figured if Chase plays to what "his alleged" potential is they can grab him long term?

JK says we're done.
