2023 Washington Roster Moves

I’d been wondering about how bad Stromberg was. I’d hoped not too bad as he hadn’t immediately gone to IR, but seems that it was. Shame.

As for the RBs, I think we see flashes of what could be with BRob and Gibson. I’m not sure our oline construction or offensive scheming does them any favors right now. They seem underused and sometimes just downright neglected.

I’m be interested to see if this latest trend towards getting both a little more involved continues as this offense develops. I still kind of feel like we’re only seeing the infant stages of what this offense can be under EB and with Howell at QB. As both settle more into their roles, I wonder how high the bar can get.

Of course by seasons end it may be too late and next year the signs are pointing to a new regime

I agree you have to wonder about some of the younger players.

Rivera admitted he didn't really follow Sam Howell's progression during the season last year in practices and unit work and seemed surprised that he came out and played well against Dallas.

Seems this coaching staff is half asleep.

The key to playing center is leverage and Nick Gates plays upright at 6'5 and is light for his frame at 310. That leads to him not being able to anchor against the inside rush and being pushed back into the face of the quarterback.

Whether Gates would make a better guard is a question. But from what I have seen he is not an NFL quality center.

What weird timing. I mean he's a guy they should have tried to upgrade over the past few off seasons, but why now? Who do they need? I can't imagine scapegoating him for the D's difficulty could work.

Unless he asked to be released. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Washington has opened up the 21 day return window for Saahdiq Charles

Looks like this is why we release Danny Johnson

Maybe a better long term option?

Again weird. With this coaching staff gone and this front office gone, there's no long term moves. Maybe they don't see it that way, but that's the way it is.

Maybe Eugene Shen was involved? Some football analytical strategery?

Is Kyu Blu a diamond in the rough?

Hard to believe that when Baltimore, Seattle, and Green Bay have all moved on.... ?

This guy may have some ability but based upon this front office's track record in claiming guys like Rachad Wildgoose and Tariq Castro-Fields in moves the organization touted as younger talents, I don't see this as anything major until proven otherwise.

Danny Johnson is a very good special teams player and on a team like the Ravens or Chiefs there IS ROOM for a guy like this at the back end of the 53 man roster for his coverage skills on ST.

The trouble here in DC is that the secondary starters who are high draft picks can't play and so the team has to go WAY DOWN the roster to try and pull potential starters.

Johnson will IMO get picked up by someone else. Perhaps Dallas? I know one comment made during the Eagles game is that Dallas felt they had too many starters on special teams risking injury so we may see Danny Johnson in the playoffs with the Cowboys.

What a kick in the pants that would be.

To absolutely no one’s surprise…

When your incompetence causes injury to the team MVP.

Not just that, but the snaps the rest of the game were not crisp. So it's in his head.

Long snapper is one of those positions that you should never know their name. I can’t name another one in the league.

More when reporters asked Cheeseman if he expected to be cut today the kid answered honestly that he was surprised he was still here and expected to have been cut weeks ago. Sad the kid couldn't figure it out, but he's right. No other coach would have tolerated that many screw ups over a season.

He's baaaack. They also signed Jaret Patterson to the practice squad.

Heard on Bram's show, with Robinson questionable with a hamstring, Rodriguez Jr. on IR, Patterson might get the most carries against the 49ers.

I'll be honest, I don't know what happened to Jonathan Williams. I thought he got a concussion and left the Miami game, but I don't know if he's back or not.
