2023 NFL Draft Thread

I do not get the Twitter crowd who wants to draft a RB(Robinson) at 16.
Just crazy talk….

Todd McShay's latest 2 round mock has us taking

16. Joey Porter JR - CB - Penn St
47. John Schmitz - C - Minnesota

I’d be pretty happy with that

He's just making the normal rounds with teams, Saints, Giants, Bucs, Texans, Washington, wouldn't put much stock in it, also 25 years old already with an injury

Another formal visit. Apparently a local boy from Hayfield HS in Alexandria VA

O'Cyrus Torrence is a name to remember...

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
The Commanders also hosted Torrence on a private Top 30 visit. New Commanders associate head coach and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is being tasked with fielding a more effective offense in our nation’s capital. Bieniemy is searching for immediate contributors as a result.

The Commanders are expected to kick Sam Cosmi to guard after signing Andrew Wylie to play right tackle. Cosmi isn’t an experienced guard. Veteran left guard Andrew Norwell is also entering a contract year. General manager Martin Mayhew should add insurance to the position. Torrence checks a lot of boxes.

Cutting Norwell with a POST June-1 Designation saves $4.34M against the cap... FYI

Be Ok with drafting Hooker as a developmental QB.

At the end of next season, if you're not in love with Howell, you can always get a Hooker.........

As long as 'developmental' doesn't translate into taking the guy in the 2nd or 3rd round :eclipsee-victoria:

Kiper's latest 2 round draft

16. Joey Porter Jr - CB Penn St
47: Blake Freeland - OT - BYU

Dane Brugler’s draft guide for The Athletic has Freeland rated as the #13 ranked OT.

‘Overall, Freeland’s inexperience and the lesser- developed aspects of his game (leverage points, play strength, etc.) will be exposed by NFL talent, but he has the feet, length and upside to warrant being a mid- round draft pick. He is a work in progress who should eventually compete for an NFL team’s No. 3 tackle spot and potentially more.’

GRADE: 5th Round

This is where I’ve seen him rated a lot. Elite body… the rest… not so much

I hope Mel was drinking at the time. Oy.

I am curious how fans would react if we were to trade back to late in the 1st or early 2nd and grabbed Hooker? Personally, I would struggle with that - unless, as Om frequently says, they truly believe he's the next great QB. I'm guessing this is smokescreen as much as anything.

Kipers 3 round mock

16. Darnell Wright - OT Tennessee - Kiper's new 16th pick
47. Kelee Ringo - CB Georgia
97. Zack Kuntz - TE Old Dominion
