I’m not heartbroken over this. He was a liability for half of the season, then reluctantly transitioned to a hybrid LB and played much better. I don’t know if he will get that money elsewhere. But maybe he will get more than what the commanders were going to cut it down to. And maybe that team let’s him play safety.

I don't think so... I think it's gotta be marked by Thursday or the money isn't available. HE would be allowed to sign, but I don't think the money becomes an option

I like Collins. He was a good soldier for us, restructuring once and also changing his role when asked to. Can’t begrudge him not wanting to take another pay cut.

Other names to watch are Payne / Sweat / Ioannidis.

All of them have been speculated to be possible trade assets. It would not shock me to see any of them moved over the next few days. There is a lot of room that can be created without a major drop off on the field. Settle is set to leave, but trade Payne / Ioannidis, sign Settle and continue to develop Smith Williams / Toney / Bradley King / Toohill, it could save a lot of money to focus on the offense. Not saying I'm necessarily advocating it, just that it's not far fetched.

I dont know how i feel about it. RSJ is a FA, but i'd be inclined to ride the Thomas / Bates train, unless they're seeing NOTHING from Reyes.

Ertz had a rejuvenation in AZ. But I think this keeps the commanders from making a bad signing.

On NFL Network, they were just talking about how guys like Christian Kirk might command upwards of 15M in free agency. Christian Kirk!

Prices are going to be insane for guys that aren't going to be major difference makers, and ultimately are replaceable.

It wouldn't surprise me if we valued bringing back depth pieces like Cam Sims at WR on affordable deals, and investing the real dollars in our own stars (e.g., Terry McLaurin).

I can see a JD McKissic cashing in elsewhere as well. As much as we all love him, he too is replaceable at the end of the day. Gibson is a former WR and should be more active in the passing game. If we can surround Terry with other productive bodies at WR, and Samuel and Brown take a leap this coming season, there are only going to be so many balls for a McKissic type. I too liked his running production when he was given opportunities, but we can easily find a cheap body somewhere that can give some relief to Antonio and contribute some meaningful carries in the run game.

Lots of fans are expectedly annoyed with this signing. At the very least, Apke has found a niche on this team with his special teams contributions. It is a bit more than what we have gotten out of other fourth round blunders in recent memory like Bryce Love, Arie Kuandjio, Wes Martin, and Antonio Gandy Golden.

he's given his career a serious shot in the arm here... and he'll be likely to cash in

We seem dis-inclined to pay our own key guys, but more than happy to pay players other teams are shedding. I really don't get it. He's probably the most dynamic offensive player on this roster and we're probably going to let him walk over a couple million a year.

I love how the Jaguars and Jets are the fastest teams seemingly out of the gates in Free Agency so far.

We used to be that team, and much like the Jaguars and Jets, always found ourselves at the bottom of the standings no matter what we tried.

I am kind of okay with staying patient.
