2014 Coaching Search Rumors

What would be the reason for wanting Gruden other than Allen-Jon Gruden connection?

Jay Gruden was an Arena League-UFL player then coach until 3 years ago. Things are starting to feel a little "Zorny" around here (except Zorn was an actual NFL player/coach).

Alot of fans gave Kyle Shanahan shit for not being very experienced, well he had 2x more OC experience and has coached several different QB's. Gruden has coached Andy Dalton, who is no better than 15th in the league. Gruden is also known for abandoning the run similar to Kyle.

Why not just promote Kyle then? I don't see how this is an upgrade over Mike/Kyle. I know nothing about the dude but seriously, what makes this guy the next great coach? His offense in Cincy depends on the defense being dominant and creating turnovers because they turn the ball over more than 30 other teams themselves.

If this is our next HC then we better be getting Wade Phillips for defense because Haslett isn't going to cut it. We will need a top 5 D for this to work.
 
Washington post is running with the story that the deal with Gruden has been reached on a general level and they're now ironing out the details.

Chris Russel on ESPN 980 said the story is 'a bit premature'

At times, I'll avoid places pushing crap I don't want to see. Usually though, I can see it for crap that it is, and won't let it influence me, whatsoever.

I'm with you, but Facebook can be over the top. Unfortunately I think a lot of uneducated people are going to be posting their thoughts over the next 24 hours and I got more important stuff to do then listen to that garbage...

That kind of stuff worries me...

I don't know enough to know if it's the right way of looking at it or not, but there's a lot of people saying it so...

Guess we'll find out...

Redskins have hired Jay Gruden as their HC. Done deal.
 
I was hoping they would at least interview Whisenhunt first.

I hope Gruden blew there doors off with his plan and this isn't some preordained hire that was the plan all along.
 
Everyone reporting it is Gruden. On Twitter Adam Schefter reports McVay will be OC. Conflicting reports on if Haslett or Morris is DC.
 
Only Denver and Philly scored more offensive TDs than the Bengals in 2013.
 
McVay is reportedly the probable OC. Looks like youth movement in our coaching staff.

What is over/under for Monday Night Games now?

Silva is an intelligent guy, but he thinks he knows more than he does. An "average to below average OC" doesn't get 4300 yards and 33TDs out of Andy Dalton. An "average to below average OC" doesn't score the third most offensive TDs in the league. Just my opinion, though.
