So NOW Allen is responsible and accountable? Where the eff has he been and why does he continue to get a pass for the current mess?
The press conference had this vibe of "Shanahan was running things, and we put a stop to it" even though that was never explicitly said.
Allen said the organization wins and looses together, and that he feels responsible.
Reading between the lines can be a dangerous and foolish thing, but what was not said but implied in that conference, in my opinion:
- Shanahan was given total control to fix things up, and while fixed a lot, him having total control led to mistakes
- The toxic environment was possibly created by Shanahan, in the very least he didn't fix it
- The scoutting department
again had all the right grades on free agents (both acquired and passed on) and Shanahan didn't listen
- Bruce Allen is now the GM overseeing the football operations on every level, with total control (yes, he was kind of vague at times and also very literal in others, but this is the break down)
- Bruce Allen will be doing the coaching search
- The Scouting department will remain intact for yet another regime
- They will not be telling us who they're talking to in the meantime but will keep people updated as necessary (meaning when they have an announcement)
