2014 Coaching Search Rumors

Hope he officially takes that on, someone needs to be accountable above a coach. We know it won't be Snyder.

He's making it pretty clear he has full control
There will be a personnel department, and then the coaches.
The way it should have been all along.

Allen now talking about KC and Phili's one year turn around.

Wonder if he'd like to compare starters and roster turnover between the 2012-2013 Chiefs and Eagles and the 2009-2010 redskins.

I don't recall us having a handful (or more) of studs on our team when Shanahan took over.

I believe our biggest studs were Davis and Orakpo?

A lot of the players support Shanahan for the reason Gettis indicated, he brought them in and gave them a livelihood.

Guys like Gettis and Lichtensteiger and Chris Chester are likely going to be out under a new coach who doesn't want to go with an undersized line.

Allen completely dodges direct question about his role and responsibility.

Saying:
It's my job to put the redskins on the right path

Then says:
I will be doing the head coach search.

I think the possible coaching candidates just dwindled down to whoever used to work with/for Allen.

Allen just said when you look at Scott and Morocco and their staff's ratings of all the players during offseason they didn't deserve to be fired.

Another case of a coaching staff not following the scouting department's recommendations?

We heard the same crock of bullshit when Shanahan came in and said he's going to keep the same scouting department.

What is the attachment to these people? Has Snyder really created an organization that over the last 10+ years have had a scouting department that constantly gets their grades right, but no one else in the organization will listen to them? How?!?!?!?

It's the same mistakes. Over. And over. And over.

So NOW Allen is responsible and accountable? Where the eff has he been and why does he continue to get a pass for the current mess?

What are the odds we get Gruden? i cant remember if i was for or against Gruden in 2010 but I think I preferred him over Shanahan.

I thought the problem with Allen/Gruden in Tampa was that the owners wouldnt put the cash into the roster but I'm not 100% on that now.

If we end up with Gruden then I wonder if the QB position will be open competition considering what he said in that game a few weeks ago.

Guess because Shanahan was calling the shots. What we don't know is what (if any) role Allen may have played behind the scenes.

He's responsible/accountable just like Vinny was back in the day :D

The press conference had this vibe of "Shanahan was running things, and we put a stop to it" even though that was never explicitly said.

Allen said the organization wins and looses together, and that he feels responsible.

Reading between the lines can be a dangerous and foolish thing, but what was not said but implied in that conference, in my opinion:
- Shanahan was given total control to fix things up, and while fixed a lot, him having total control led to mistakes
- The toxic environment was possibly created by Shanahan, in the very least he didn't fix it
- The scoutting department again had all the right grades on free agents (both acquired and passed on) and Shanahan didn't listen
- Bruce Allen is now the GM overseeing the football operations on every level, with total control (yes, he was kind of vague at times and also very literal in others, but this is the break down)
- Bruce Allen will be doing the coaching search
- The Scouting department will remain intact for yet another regime
- They will not be telling us who they're talking to in the meantime but will keep people updated as necessary (meaning when they have an announcement)

Well, like you just told Ryman, looks like he is in charge and will be going forward so no sense belaboring the idea he has responsibility for the latest 4 year blunder. ;)

If we bring in Gruden then I'll be convinced Allen is Vinny 2.0

Which Gruden? Jon or Jay? Jay Gruden seems to have earned a HC shot. Not that I would want him, I would prefer to have Zimmer from Cincy.

I'd love to see Gruden here. I think I'm likely the only one though :)

This whole situation reeks of not right...

Remember when Shanahan was hired? Wasn't the whole thing universally considered as follows : Snyder wanted Shanahan, Shanahan wanted Allen to put space between him and Snyder, so Snyder went and got Allen so Snyder would come.

Am I the only one remembering it that way?

And now, after the loss to KC, there were reports that Allen stayed at Fed Ex Field with Snyder until like 1 AM.

Now Shanahan is out, and Allen is in full control of everything...

And I'm talking about Jon. Hey - I have a great idea - maybe he could bring his son on board as OC!

I know nothing about Jay other than lots of people say nice things about him.

I was referring to Jon.

If we go get him I'm going to puke all over the place. Home and office. Walls, floors, desks. Everything.

You only make me love you more when you talk dirty to me like that.

If they hire Jon Gruden I will seriously have a hard time attending another Redskins' football game.
