I'm also concerned about the lack of drafting an interior OL.
I'm not sold on Lavaou and our center play was horrendous last year and we've done nothing so far in the offseason to address it.
A name I never hear associated with the Skins is Derrick Henry from Alabama.
Any reason why not? Especially if we trade down and grab more picks?
What are the red flags on this guy?
I disagree with you here.
I think Breeland is way way better than an "above average 3rd" CB. He was playing very well last year and, in my opinion, close to a top CB (albeit not at the level of a Josh Norman yet, but he IS young).
Henry,
Just curious - if we cut Roberts and either cut/restructure Culliver (not sure if we can do the latter or not), would you feel a little more comfortable with the cap hit this year?
I know it doesn't address 2017 and possibly 2018 but I'm hoping Norman continues on his trajectory in our...
1) Agree on DL. I really, really hope we invest a couple of picks high in the draft on DL given the talent coming out this year.
2) I never suggested FA is not a route to go - only prefer going top-flight FA when we are only a couple of pieces away. FA signings rarely live up to their contracts...
I agree that I could care less about the $$ provided it doesn't hurt the team's chances of being able to lock down Cousins and Reed and still have cap space for other signings.
Heck, I didn't think we were a playoff team last year so I may end up being pleasantly surprised.
This draft is...
The key here is "line play".
We had better hope that Galette stays healthy, Kerrigan bounces back, Smith progresses to the next level AND we add some potential starters in the interior DL.
That's a lot of "ifs".
The concern I have here with the Norman move is that you do this when you are...
I think Ryan Kelly is supposed to grade out to a late 1st/early 2nd pick and he's a Center.
Our situation at Center is as bad as any on the team.
I would not cry if we took Kelly in the first.
I hear you, but I have two thoughts on using the franchise tag:
1) Would much prefer we are able to sign him to a long term deal. Finally, it looks as though we have a shot at a real franchise QB. A one year rental at $20M+ isn't really what we need
2) If Cousins doesn't want to be here and we...
I hate to bring this up, but what if Kirk doesn't want to come back? Is that even a possible scenario?
Some friends of mine said that he looked really annoyed in an interview where the run up to the season was discussed. Makes me concerned that he might hold a grudge.
Crazy, I know.
Talk me...
I feel like this was a watershed game for Cousins.
He was fantastic.
I hope he doesn't let up next week vs. the Eagles. That game is for all the marbles.
I'm torn on keeping Gruden. His leadership, playcalling, and preparedness leave a lot to be desired but Cousins has done well under his tutelage and I'd be hesitant to cut bait until the Scot has time to stock the roster with more talent before giving up on him.
This gives Cousins another year...
While it would be a nice bar to clear, what is concerning is that the reason Kirk is passing for so many yards is because of our lack of effective running game.
Nice for Kirk, but not really good for the team as a whole.
