I’m a bit confused as to why Samuel Jr is still out there, specially considering a guy who he is better then Blind folded just signed with his former team in the Chargers (St. Juste)
He's also just not all that great. Pretty decent playmaker/ball hawk in a zone system, but is small-ish and gets bullied in man coverage. He's also coming off of a season ending injury last year.

Yep. Another reason he's unlikely to be a fit here, given DQ's stressing of physicality, etc.
Jacob Martin gives one heck of an interview, I'll give him that, just watched his interview. He definitely is not the solution, but digesting him, not bad depth-backup.
Martin, 27, has amassed 16 sacks and seven forced fumbles in his five-year NFL career. He has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, New York Jets, and the Denver Broncos before joining the Colts last week.
Martin was most notably known for being the main piece coming back to the Texans in the Jadeveon Clowney trade back in 2019. Despite being shipped off for a highly touted player such as Clowney, Martin was able to make a name for himself in Houston. In fact, Martin actually had more sacks in 2019 with the Texans (3.5) than Clowney did with the Seahawks (3.0).
Martin was originally a sixth-round pick out of Temple back in the 2018 NFL Draft. He notably ran a 4.59 forty-yard dash while excelling in the three-cone drill with an incredible 6.90 second time.
...There is no denying his ability as a pass rusher. Martin is a developed speed rusher who understands how to use his bend and his speed to his advantage.
He has spent a considerable amount of time building up his pass-rush repertoire, and it is noticeable how much better he has gotten over the years at shedding offensive tackles on the edge. His patented cross-chop is a highly effective rush move that leaves offensive linemen flailing as he corners around them.

I'm thinking most of the O pieces are in place. I forsee DE and CB (whichever position is BPA) occupying the 1st 2 picks. Last year this team had "glaring holes" whereas this year we are already

I'd be very worried if we run it back with BRob as our main rushing weapon. Yeah the OL wasn't very good at run blocking, but it was clear that he not only oftentimes wasn't seeing the holes well, but was also tentative in hitting them and had very little wiggle or lateral burst. I also don't want to be in a position again where we have to rely on JD to be our main running weapon, because that could very quickly end in disaster.
If they don't make any meaningful upgrades at RB I have to assume that they truly believe the problem was mostly on the OL. I don't really buy it, but they know far more about it than I do. I guess we'll see.

We are on the same page. I take solace in knowing they know the player, but we as fans with nothing to do for 8 months hey lets dissect the signing. AP got himself a long leash after a great first year. He'll swing and miss on moves and I'll give him passes.
Unfortunately in discussions its tough to take out the money part; money dictates expectation levels and money says he is far more pivotal than the other run stuffers. I contended he is the key player in a clear change in defensive philosophy, so based on his cap expectations will be high. It's not fair to the player but its real difficult to ignore them for some. Me included. They have big plans for him.
Reading up on what a media guy speculated on him being... an elephant end... I don't see it - he's too stout - maybe he'll slim down some for a bit more shake and bake. He seems more cut from the 3-4 DE mold to me. Elephant end may be a more loosely used term than I am aware.
