Here is the thing I am wondering about Barkley. He had almost 500 touches last year, including the playoffs. There have been three running backs in the last 20-ish years that have had that many touches:
- DeMarco Murray, 2014 (497)
- Arian Foster, 2016 (460)
- Larry Johnson, 2006 (475)
All three cratered the next year: Murray had 237 touches, Foster 143, and Johnson 188. Very few RBs double up on that workload--and the ones that do are in their early 20s (23, 24), but still face a significant drop off. Barkley is different--but it's really hard for a body to take that kind of pounding.
