I take comfort in the article on ESPN which talked about the extreme bitterness that Lord Farquaad currently has about losing this franchise. If we move stadium, change uniforms and change names then "he who shall not be named" can move on far easier, as nothing is left of what he once owned. Whilst I didn't like the choice of name, knowing that he is being tortured every time he sees the name Commanders, especially when we are doing well, makes the non name change easier to swallow.
I think Harris was in a no win situation, he'd upset many people no matter what he did, and fans would proclaim they weren't buying merchandise until the name they want is in place. The name is a bit meh, but it could have been worse, so at some point this back and forth is going to have to stop. As a fanbase we all need to move forward and get full behind the team, if anything, just to banish the constant negativity that has lingered around this franchise for decades. If the negativity goes, regardless of the name, that will stick it to Farquaad more than anything, and we will have truly washed that stain (skid mark) away.
