What's for Dinner?

I'm sorry for your loss and hope that you can find stable footing and a place where you can live in peace

My husband's suicide was just before Covid hit here. We both knew about it in China, I just didn't think it would cross both oceans.
I spent a ton of his 401k money(that wasn't large to any degree) helping others.
I did not know about your husband. That was a very brave thing to post. My mom took her life when I was 18, I'm not ashamed and have posted this on other boards but sometimes it shocks posters when I reveal something so personal. I'm so sorry Mary.

Unfortunately I have a lot of experience with suicide. My best friend since high school took his life after learning he had lymphoma when we were in our early 30's. He was dating my sister in law. Another very good high school friend, all 3 of us spent a summer in Boulder, CO once, took his life a few years earlier after a breakup with his longterm girlfriend. This is the only one I never understood, he was a surgeon and had access to meds.

A 4th very good friend who we were caring for as she was losing her battle tried to do it in my recliner. But she did not have enough meds. We woke up to find her, knew of her wishes, read her note so we went upstairs and watched the news hoping the drugs would do their job. What an unreal experience. They didn't and my wife had to drive her to the hospital, the look on our friend's face was the saddest thing I have ever witnessed. There are few more interesting conversations than talking with a friend after her suicide failed. I'm a Red Sox fan and didn't go to bed until after the playoff game was over. She said she was sitting there wishing the damned game would end.

Homemade Egg McMuffins

Toasted English muffin
Lots of very thin sliced Virginia ham
Lots of melted extra sharp cheddar
Over easy eggs

Using up leftovers. Easy peasy 😍

*** That sounds awesome. I didn't eat today, but my kitties did.

^^^Awww, looks like a heart...

It looks like dogs face to me though haha. Nose. Mouth, eyes, ears. It's all there. It even has a neck.

We went to my favorite taco place today and they had a Valentine's Day special. Street taco's 2 bucks each so we got 12, enough for my lunch tomorrow too.

I even have some avocado at home so I can make them better tomorrow.

I didn't clean my pellet grill completely before doing burgers and had a grease fire. It almost turned the burgers I was cooking into charcoal briquets, lol. Believe it or not, they were still edible but needless to say a little 'overdone'.

I've been getting these for several years now. You just take two ribeye steaks and put them together to form a heart for presentation. Maybe trim it a bit. Or not. Not that difficult. But this was at Boarman's Market in Highland yesterday, and I was surprised to see it was one hunk of beef. They sliced it but then stopped before cutting to the bottom of the roast, right? Then sliced all the way through on the next cut. So you end up with two steaks that are connected to each other and unfold in the shape of a heart, with no visible seam. This makes the two steaks appear to be one slice of meat and also a mirror image of each other. The marbling is exactly the same on left and right. I've never seen it done that way before. Pretty cool. Then this morning on reddit some guy posted the exact same thing. I guess I gotta get out more. Anyway, we had surf and turf. And a fancy dessert. It was very nice.

The guy at Mt Airy meat locker says "Do you want it butterflied?" and I say "Yes, please."

Is there a better word to use?
