Some of you might have caught Chis Cooley on the Kevin Sheehan podcast earlier today. Cooley suggest that Trent could return to the WFT. I'm not going to re-listen to the podcast to quote directly but Cooley suggested that the guy Trent had the problem with was Allen and not Dan.

This raises a series of questions and concerns:

Would you, the dedicated fans of the WFT welcome Trent back?
Is Trent healthy enough to bother with at this point in his career? He hasn't played a full season since 2013!!
Was Cooley just throwing crap against the wall or does he know something we don't?
What would it cost?

What say you B&G faithful?

I posted this to stir things up......you disappoint me.

Where's the "Well, if we could get him for vet minimum" post?
Where's the "The team treated him poorly" post?
Where's the "Allen was Satan" post?

All of that would have been here before Trent acted the way he did and flat out lied about why he wanted out. We saw him for who he really is, and it wasn't a good look. A guy like that isn't worth having at any price.

I completely agree Beetlejuice. But hey...if you can't troll your family who can you troll?

Seriously? Who wants that phony, money grubbing bum back here?

Need to stick to the youth movement. Alot of OT talent in this draft so keep building.

BTW, A pox on anyone suggesting that asshole belongs in the Ring of Fame....

I am going to play devil's advocate here.

Trent was done VERY dirty by a coach who was a piece of trash, a VP who was an even bigger piece of trash, and an owner who is the entire dump.

I don't want to give Trent any huge payday, but a midrange salary to come in, secure the LT spot, and retire as a Redskin wouldn't make me mad.

We all know why he left. He also got PAID from the 9ers. He has a decent relationship with Ron and the other losers are gone.

Whats crazy is that he didnt' get paid though. He's concluding the contract WE signed him to. They gave him the $12.5mil base salary that remained.

I actually wouldn't HATE having a conversation with him and seeing where his head (no pun intended) is at. I think he got done dirty and reacted the only way he thought he could to get what he wanted. The problem is that now he is always going to be considered a 'short fuse' type player. I can honestly say if I was in his position in my own life I would be frustrated myself. Trent absolutely had the ability to seek his own medical opinion but the team Drs likely should not be making that call.. they should be instructing him to seek further diagnosis. Trent is still a very good LT and he likely has a couple more years.. I would not be upset if we brought him back, but I would have some level of concern.

The fact remains that Trent Williams did absolutely nothing to reach out and deal with Ron Rivera in a fair way.

He was still under contract to Washington and for the 'sin' of talking to his ex-player Greg Olsen first in the new league year, Williams said he determined that Rivera was disrespecting him and that he didn't want to come back here. Evidently, Washngton had to come to the 'mountain' first before doing anything else :D

So, he got what he wanted..................in a way................ :devilish:

He was traded to SF, a team that was in the Super Bowl in 2019. He had hopes of a new contract.

Instead the 49ers went 6-10, finished in last place, and decided to let Trent's contract ride out the season. Which was smart by SF.

We watched Trent Williams on the field against Washington. Chase Young and the DL made him look 33 years old.

He's clearly not the player he was 4-5 years ago and yet his ego is not willing to accept that.

In my opinion, someone is going to sign him in free agency and is then going to be disappointed that he doesn't play 16 games and he isn't the same impact player he was in years past.

No, he's going to want stupid money to begin with - he's 33 - no.
His behavior here regardless of his relationship with Gruden/Allen is moot when we all found out it wasn't the medical issue but that he wanted a new payday - no
He's not a long term answer as he's not exactly a 16 game player - we don't need more broken down vets while in a youth movement - no
He can kiss my ass....no....I don't roll that way

lol so SO is out...

I wouldn't pay him stupid money, if he wants stupid money he can get that elsewhere lol.

how do you know how much money he wants? Did he come out already and say it?

it was a medical issue. he had a freaking tumor in his head that was misdiagnosed and downplayed by the team.

Trent Williams coming back here would be like Le'Veon Bell going back to the Steelers.

Ain't gonna happen.

You don't know that. It is your opinion of it.

It could very well work out.

I don't think anyone said anything about a massive contract and we're talking about a team that had Geron Christian slated as the starting LT last season. I don't think anyone should be 'off limits' as much as maybe they have a lower value. There's no telling what Williams is going to get on the open market. With the cap going down I would venture to guess it's not $12 mil per year. The free agent LT position is not very good this year (as of now, I assume more surprise cuts are coming) so a lot of teams likely are going to be looking toward the draft to try and find an inexpensive rookie to plug and play. A LOT of talent at OT in the first round of this draft so you wonder how much teams are going to be willing to spend on a 33 year old free agent.

We are all excited to experience the announcement of draft selections IN REAL TIME TOGETHER. If you feel the need to be the first to 'blurt out' the team's picks you are better off staying out of chat and sticking to Twitter. Please refrain from announcing/discussing our picks until the official announcement has been made at the podium. Thanks!
